Avocado’s Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bay Saint Louis

First of all, let me tell you that I love going to different Mexican Restaurants because its my favorite food...but, NOT THIS PLACE! I honestly didn't like anything except my flour tortillas. They bring you extremely nasty tortilla chips that are very stale and NOT FRESH with some of the worst salsa I've ever had in my life! (They only bring you a little tiny bowl of it and not a bottle like most all Mexican Restaurants). But, I can understand why now.. I'm sure it gets wasted! So chips and salsa totally sucked! I got ice tea to drink but it didn't taste good. It tasted old and bitter.. Evidently they don't know how to make it! The tap water would've been better! Then, we asked for the queso cheese dip....I usually eat that stuff up at other restaurants and I never knew it could even taste as bad as it did but It was not good at all and I had to get the waitress to take it back and take it off my order! It was extremely nasty!!! Then I ordered shrimp fajitas and my friend ordered nachos. Double fail again! The shrimp weren't that bad but I've had so much better... These tasted old and I honestly didn't eat them all. Once you taste a bad shrimp, it really just ruins it all for you. I tried to eat more but it was pretty disgusting also and the bell peppers had a bitter rotten taste! I've never tasted anything like it! My friend probably liked his more than I liked mine which isn't saying much! Nothing was any good! I wanted to come back home and write this review to let you all know to please pass this place up. There are so many more Mexican Restaurants that prepare the best quality food and make sure your dining experience is superb.. Avaco's is NOT one of those places! Very disappointed with this establishment! Service was quick and the ambience was spot on for this type of restaurant - but then how long does it take to pop your frozen entry into the microwave and heat it up? I ordered the chile relleno and it was evident that it had been frozen only moments before arriving at the table. The waitress tried to explain, in very broken English, that the chile pepper was full of water and that it "flooded" my plate when cooked. I have ordered chile relleno at several Mexican restaurants before and never has my plate been filled with water that saturated the canned refried beans and tasteless/colorless Spanish rice. I could have literally drank my dinner. My friend had ordered the hot tamale platter and, though it was not filled with water, it was obvious that it had also come straight out of the freezer and into the microwave. It took less than 5 minutes after ordering for our entrees to arrive. I had also brought in a coupon for 2/1 Cucumber Martinis - which I ordered for my friend. I ordered the "happy hour" 2/1 margarita for myself and was informed that I could only use one or the other, though the newspaper ad stated none of the sort. After discussing it with the manager, I was hesitantly allowed to use the coupon for my friend's drink, and to order my margaritas since it was actually "happy hour." The margaritas appeared to lack any tequila and tasted like margarita mix. The one redeeming factor of this entire experience is that the cucumber martini was awesome! I left the remainder of my coupons on the table because I have NO intention of every frequenting this establishment again. This lady In the picture, her name is Aleyda E as written on the receipt in the pictures below I also have a couple of pictures of her as well in the pictures below she is the most rude. If not, the most unprofessional person that I have ever came across in restaurant history she tried to keep my change I had to literally get up and walk from my table that I was sitting at to go find her to give me back my change. She did not want to give me the rest of my money that she owe me. She Finally came back to my table after waiting 25 minutes and threw My money on the table and it scattered everywhere instead of putting it in my hand how I gave it to her She was too busy, talking Laughing horse playing and gossiping with other coworkers, instead of helping me and my friends Feel welcome, and when I asked for a plastic utensil, she then threw it on the table To begin with I let that one slide at first because I didn’t know whether she meant any harm by it or not but now I know that she Definitely meant harm by it now And then said something in Spanish, but I know from her body language, she said something smart and unprofessional, and she roll her eyes while doing so so I know it was something disrespectful So If you think about going to this restaurant to have a good time, please look elsewhere and beware of this lady.
