Food (Sanskrit— bhojana,“that which is to be enjoyed,” Hindi— khana, Tamil— shapad)
First of all, I have to say how excited I am to have an Indian restaurant in Bay Saint Louis. This is such a courageous move for the owners - to introduce a very deep international food culture into another. They should be applauded and supported. I normally write a a good, bad and ugly type review but today I can only write a good, better, amazing! The good...atmosphere is in the early stages. The building has come a long way from the dark and dingy days of The Third Base. Good riddance to that eyesore! I have no doubt that it will improve with time. I for one look forward to the growth and evolution of the space. For now, Indian Paradise is bright, sunny and lively. Rachel and the rest of the wait staff are warm and welcoming and made me feel at home. The better...simply put FOOD IS AMAZING! We enjoyed standard dishes you will find in most Indian restaurants like Chana Massala and Chicken Tikka Massala but also enjoyed an amazing fish curry and honey cauliflower. For the next few days the menu will rotate so I'm sure there are more delights coming. I cannot wait to try all of them. The AMAZING...so many things are amazing about this place but one thing truly blew me away...the hot chai tea. Even on this warm day it was a warm, soothing, homemade hug from far away.
I hope everyone can appreciate that the food cultures of India and South Louisiana/Mississippi are much more alike than different. Dig into the recipes and you'll find tons of similarities. Don't be afraid. Please, do yourself a favor, come to Indian Paradise. Welcome Rachel, Amit and the team into our amazing and unique town. It can only make us more unique and amazing! Who knows, maybe we can even have a Diwali celebration this fall! File next to: variety is the...
Read moreI want to preface my review by saying that this restaurant is new and has plenty of time to improve, and I’ll definitely consider visiting again when they’re more settled in.
I was very excited to try this restaurant because of the great reviews that have been posted here so far.
Unfortunately for me, I didn’t have a good experience here.
When I pulled in, cars were parked allover the place. I had to park in a very muddy and uneven area, squeezing my car past other cars to try to find a place to park. All this trouble parking and the restaurant wasn’t even full, so I hope that they fix their parking lot situation.
When I walked in the door, the guy asked me how many etc but wasn’t very warmly welcoming. It felt more transactional.
The music was a little bit loud and it was some kind of dance music that was a bit irritating to me and my family. It would have been perfectly fine if it weren’t as loud.
Then the wait time. It took about 5 minutes to get our water glasses filled. He didn’t say anything, just filled our glasses and left.
After 15 minutes of waiting (and looking at the servers as if to say “hey we’re ready”) we were never asked about what we wanted.. appetizers, nothing.
So we walked out and went to Orchid Indian in Gulfport which has never disappointed.
This place is closer to where we live than orchid so I really hope that my experience there was just a fluke and that I can come back at a later date and update this review with resounding positivity.
I wish you all the best and hope this review serves as a guide on some things that could be improved and not taken to be a...
Read moreOne word: delicious! We drove in from out of town to try this establishment. We like to eat and make Indian food often, so we were excited to find that there was a new place to try.
Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed it was clean and nicely decorated. We were greeted and sat promptly. There was a buffet; however, we opted to order several dishes and share. The owner recommended the honey cauliflower. It reminded me of orange chicken. It was very good and came with a cilantro-mint sauce that was excellent.
We ordered Chana masala, paneer saag, veggie korma, and madras curry. We also ordered naan and papadm. I haven’t had papadm in many years, and I was thrilled that it arrived tasting as good as I remember. All of the dishes were enjoyed. We had a bit to take home too. The saag was some of the best I’ve ever had. The paneer was slightly browned, which added a nice texture and flavor.
The restaurant was moderately crowded; it was encouraging to see people supporting a local business.
We had a great experience and...
