This place is a disgrace and has no class whatsoever. That is an understatement. I ordered a pie not knowing that there was meat in it. Once delivered I contacted the restaurant only to be told that if I wanted another order that I would have to pay for it. I subsequently asked for the owner and the guy on the phone told me he was the owner...but he wasn't. So I walked the pizza back to the restaurant and encountered the real owner who did try to help but by that time it was too late. After I complained I walked out only to find that halfway down the block I am being chased by the guy behind the counter!!!!!!!!!!! He wanted to assault me!!!! The police got involved. What an embarassment. I only wish that the guy would have hit me so that I could have filed suit. To add injury to insult, the owner, after appraoched by police exclaimed that I had uttered profanities toward customers dining in the reataurant, which was a complete fabrication. I showed up to the police station about an hour later to demand that something be done in lieu of filing an order of protection. The Bayonne police department was empathetic and followed up with the class that you would expect from a small town community but this incident still haunts me to this day. I could not have imagined the horror of the outcome. Thankfully Bayonne is a great place with good people and plenty of Italian delights from a multitude of businesses so I have been treated well and have been able to continue enjoying the fare the town has to offer. However, I will never forget this experiece and would urge those who beleive in decency and respect not to dine there. If you want food from a bunch of classless gangsters you should eat here...otherwise order your meal from a place with some dignity. To think that I brought my own mom here when she came to visit me from halfway across the country...she would be MORTIFIED to know that her son was nearly assaulted by the very people who made her meal. This place is shameful and I will not rest easily until people know about it. You cannot will not get away with this kind of behavior. And remember that cameras capture everything. I literally thought and still think that I will be attacked by these people. That is a frightening thought over...
Read moreWorst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Bayonne. Went on the day before Mother’s Day, had a reservation for six people, walked in and was not greeted for at least 20-25 minutes. They seemed a little bit busy, thats why I didn’t want to say anything but it wasn’t packed. I felt like they didn’t care to greet us. My sister-in-law had to go up and say some thing and that’s when we were seated. The waitress that took care of us didn’t come to take our orders after maybe another 10 to 15 minutes. After everyone put in their orders, I was asked at least six times what my order was by the same waitress the one who had tattoos all over her arms, and I believe a cook came out to ask what my order was after maybe 30 minutes after ordering, It took about another 45 minutes for the food to come out. The cook/waiter came out came with our orders and handed everyone’s plate, but mine. He then proceeded to ask me why am I not eating? I looked at him so confused and I told him I had ordered already, and I’m waiting. Then he proceeds to ask me again, What did I order? I simply told him carbonara with linguine then he told me to wait five minutes for my order to come out. At this point I thought it was a joke, but he was very serious. Food was not up to par, service was mediocre, the restaurant is very very very small. I thought it would be bigger since it’s an Italian restaurant but no literally this place is super small even though they have a party room but that’s just for a party but I’m talking about the main eating area. Oh, did I mention our waitress the one with the Tattoos gave me a full-blown attitude when I told her I was waiting for my pasta, she asked me how long did the other people’s food came out with a whole attitude like miss girl 🙄 Excuse me, but why are you asking me about your damn job?!? you’re supposed to know when your tables food was served. That was a cherry on top.
Also, there were flies flying all over the restaurant. Never ever stepping foot or giving them my money ever again. You’re better off at the Mexican restaurant a few doors down, I should’ve went...
Read moreBest Italian food bar none. My husband and I have been going here for many years. Have tried other places but none compare to San Vito's. We never get the pizza. Don't know if it's good, bad, or indifferent. It's the PASTA here that shines. And the sides. If sauteed mushrooms with garlic and dried tomatoes is on the menu, GET IT. It's divine. All their pasta dishes are marvellous, cooked to perfection, and extremely tasty. Large portions, too. The bread is fantastic - get the olive oil with herbs to dip it in. Skip the garlic bread - the bread is complimentary, and with the olive oil and herbs (with garlic, natch) you won't need extra bread. This time around I ordered a salad special - mixed greens with pears, orange slices, strawberries, walnuts, and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. Beyond good - extraordinary. Very large, yet my husband and I shared it and ate every single morsel. Had the mushrooms (mentioned above) and 2 pasta dishes. Well more than enough food for 2 You could order only one pasta dish and feel very full after splitting it with someone. Main problem at San Vito's is the seating area is not huge and on Fri/Sat nights they are FULL. Tons of regulars. We had quite a wait on Sat. night. Normally I won't wait, because there are so many restaurants on the area, but their food is so good we did, and ended up being very happy once we were seated and food was on the way. The good news is they accept reservations. If you're planning to eat on a weekend night, it might be best to make a reservation, otherwise there can be quite a wait ( unless you go early). Once you're eating, tho, you won't remember anything except how great the...
