If you're not wanting to deal with Houston traffic going west to get some amazing food than do what we did and go East, oh yes Baytown has a secret and it's scrumptious. The husband and I wanted some Indian food but didn't want to wait until 11 am for stuff to open in the west side of town ( we live East) so we googled this little joint and went on an adventure. As all adventures, this one is one to rave about, the food was remarkable. The flavor was spectacular and the speed was incredible. I know what you're thinking gas station food? But this hidden gem is it. I felt like I was filming my own diners, drive ins & dives. We pull up and the sign is for a gas station but nay nay it's more than that. It says taqueria but then you see the tiny rice bowl sign. Once you open those doors you're hit with the aroma of mouth watering flavor. Staff was playing Bollywood on the big screen so I had some nice background flow going and learned some new moves. We order the garlic naan, which was awesome. The Samosas are not greasy which is a plus, so i gobbled those down quick at 1.99 I should have gotten more. I had the butter chicken which melted in my mouth. The flavor and ratio was perfect. The hubs ordered a spicy option so we balance each others meals out. We waited a bit paid up front and sat at a table. Heads up only 3 tables. I mean it is a gas station so tables are limited. We decided to eat at the joint because people watching and delicious food is a fun hobby of moi. The customers came and went while we waited. Once the food arrived everything else became background noise to the hypnotic dish that was bestowed upon me. We ate and still had enough for a to go order. The staff was pleasant, the food is worth the drive and bonus I topped up my gas tank on the way out. I will be returning because yes, it's that good. Keep it up Rice bowl...
Read moreI read the reviews. I craved Indian food but was used to being disappointed. We travel full time in an RV our last home was Chicago which we were spoiled with amazing Indian food. Since leaving Chicago we've tried a few places in different states, but none compared. I walked in the gas station either way I needed to fix my craving and all I see is a Taqueria sign so I'm disappointed maybe they moved. I asked the guy at gas station register what happened to the Indian restaurant and he said it's there and pointed to the Taqueria. I walked there confused and asked the guy for a menu. I placed my order which was butter chicken, chicken Biryani, simosa, naan or some kind of bread. I waited for the gentleman to prepare my order which he did right in front of me. I took my order home and as soon as I looked at it I said this is gonna be bomb. Now let me tell you, it was ! Omg some good Indian food the butter chicken was in point the sauce is delicious. The chicken biryani delicious too and not big chunks of bone in chicken just boneless like the ones I used to eat. Everything well seasoned and yummy. The simosa was huge and crispy and delicious. If you're craving Indian food go here. Ignore the way the place looks and trust me that this hole in the wall will provide you with some delicious Indian food that will satisfy your cravings. Luckily for me I have a lot...
Read moreThis place is in fact inside a gas station all the way in the back to the left of walking in the entrance. The sign says Taqueria, but don't be fooled; what's there is actually the best Indian food I've had yet. They have only three tables to eat at but give you take-out as an option. Me and my partner ordered Mango Lassi, Samosas, Spicy Buttered Chicken, Spicy Chicken 65, Spicy Paneer Briyani, Basil Garlic Nan, Spicy Nan, and Galoob Jamoon. Yes all the spicy foods I mentioned also come in a non spicy form. The Paneer Briyani is vegan, as some Indian restaurants offer vegan options.
All the food was so amazing though, the spice was in fact spicy; I like my food with a kick. Everything smelled good and looked so satisfying and inviting. The food is made fresh per order, and the workers are as friendly as can be.
This hole in the wall place deserves, not only a restaurant but plenty of business. If you love Indian food, you won't be disappointed. If you don't, you might fall in love with Indian food by...
