My husband and I stumbled into here after not wanting to wait at another local spot. The atmosphere was inviting and pleasant with a band . What was nice is the entertainment is at a distance from the dining area. I like this so if you're there to see the band you can get up close dance and have a great time . But if you're there with family to enjoy your dinner you can actually hear each other talk while you're eating. The service was attentive and friendly. To be honest I probably would have given them a 5 out of 5 but the food was lacking. We ordered calamari for an appetizer. Unfortunately it had no flavor it was heavy floured with no pepper, no salt , and unfortunately had no taste. My husband got the New York strip steak. The piece looked good and was cooked to the degree he asked but it upon cutting, it seemed like a flank steak with excessive tendons. For my self I ordered the clams casino pizza. I will say the crust was fantastic. Thin, crisp and delicious. My own complaint and this is against me, is that I didn't notice when I read it that there was bacon as a topping. Unfortunately the bacon overpowered the pizza in my opinion. I would definitely go back though and give the pizza another try ( just a different one) hands down awesome crust, can't...
Read moreSunday evening my husband and I decided to give The Marlin another try. We have had a summer home on LBI for the past 24 years and have gone to The Marlin with friends in the past and it was okay. We were seated promptly and glad to see the restaurant was relatively empty. Six tables of two and one large party which was done eating. I was told I had to get my Lobster Bake order in ASAP as they only had a couple left. No Problem, Put in the order. We waited over a half an hour after our salad course for our dinners. During this period we never saw our server. I had to flag down a busser to order a beer. The restaurant has an open kitchen which is in full view of the dining room. There were 4 servers standing around. Period. Our food finally arrived and our server said management would like to comp us a dessert for our wait. They should have comped the entire meal. Or at least offered an appetizer during the wait. And the food was terrible. My wood stove baked lobster tasted like rubber and my husbands fish fry was over done and dry. Poor service and bad food! I also agree with another reviewer that the bartender acts like she is doing you a favor when she gives you your drink. Luckily we can scratch The Marlin off our list and never...
Read moreare you kidding me? the bouncers are amongst the rudest people I have ever met. I cant not figure out why either; I'd be embarrassed to be working there. I was standing up against the bar waiting 20 minutes for a beer. a bar back / bouncer was trying to get past me holding a 30 pack of beer stabbing me in the back and asked me to move using profanity, "I said where would you like me to go?" he said "you want to get the ** out?". I said" Kind of to tell you the truth." and left. After having 2 beers, there was a $10.00 cover charge only to go in and pay $9.00 for 2 beers. there wasn't even a DJ there was a dance floor full of people to see 2 sloppy drunk people dancing like lunatics. I regret wasting a Friday night there. I regret wasting $10.00 to get in. Lesson learned, and by the way, the food is absolutely terrible too. 1-10 , -7. All I honestly have to say about "the Marlin" is, your bartenders suck and cant count change back, get a high school education, losers & your bouncers are rude, get a new staff that doesn't think they're cool for working as such a...
