First, these are some of the nicest people you will find in a restaurant and they are incredibly generous, giving me samples of various sides. For the food, I got catfish, ribs, and chicken strips. The portions were very generous. The catfish was perfect if you like catfish. The chicken strips were great, putting Raising Cane's to shame. The ribs were just OK. Not a lot of flavor and a little dry. I cook ribs at home and mine are better, but I've had worse. The sides really shine! The baked beans were amazing, I think the best part of the meal. Their slaw is fantastic and fresh. The mac and cheese is good too and their cornbread is moist and tasty. I got fries too, they were good, I'm sure kids would love them but they aren't any different than fries anywhere else, so I'd recommend picking one of their other great sides as a replacement. If I had one complaint, it is that I expected more spice. None of the food was spicy except the beans had a nice spice to them. I think the catfish especially would benefit from a spicy dipping tarter or mayo. The owner told me he sometimes makes a Cajun pasta and next time I'm in town I'm gonna give that a try. I highly recommend giving this fantastic local restaurant your business. Aside from just being good food, it's a fantastic value. I'm stuffed and all the food I described (the coleslaw and mac and cheese were small sample portions)...
Read moreZo’s Soulfood in Beatrice is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. I had the meatloaf, and it was perfectly seasoned, moist, and packed with flavor—just like grandma used to make. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, a perfect complement to the meatloaf. And the cornbread? Oh my goodness, it was golden, slightly sweet, and had the perfect crumbly texture.
But the star of the show for me was the pound cake. It was rich, dense, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Every bite was pure bliss!
The portions were generous, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were more than reasonable for the quality of food you get. Zo’s Soulfood is a must-visit if you’re in Beatrice. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their delicious dishes! Highly,...
