This was the number 1 place recommended to me by locals for a splurge night on my vacation. Unfortunately it disappointed.
Atmosphere was a weird hodgepodge of New England tavern and general Red Lobster nautical theme? Sitting at the bar has guests facing away from the water towards some televisions. Water front dining looked a little nicer.
Food… the menus were really dated. I was looking for some peel and eat shrimp. Ended up with those and the allegedly famous hush puppies. The shrimp was decent but they put some clumps of old bay on them instead of a sprinkle like most coastal joints. The hush puppies were ok but needed to pick a lane- I broke one open and found a huge chunk of onion and whole kernel corn, ok no big deal, but this obviously savory appetizer is served with cinnamon honey butter. Maybe I’m weird but onions and honey butter weren’t my thing.
Drinks- the cocktail menu appeared to feature your usual tiki drinks and I’m all about a good pina colada. I saw they had different flavors and went for a raspberry one. It was awful. It was $14 which made it even more excruciating. It was like when you suck all of the flavor out of a slushy and you’re left with nothing but abrasive ice chips that taste like off brand kool aid.
The service was good unlike the place I tried earlier in the evening. There I was ignored at the bar for 15 minutes and never even got a menu. Avoid Seaside Bar & Grill down the road.
Maybe try this place for lunch but don’t expect much. Stick...
Read moreDockside restaurant offers a serene waterfront setting and impeccable service that elevate the dining experience, though the cuisine, unfortunately, falls short of matching the same caliber.
Arriving at Dockside, we were promptly greeted by a friendly hostess and escorted to a table with an outstanding marsh view. The atmosphere exudes a relaxed vibe, perfect for a leisurely meal.
The menu revealed a selection of dishes ranging from seafood specialties to hearty classics. While my entree was decent, it didn't quite meet the expectations set by the restaurant's ambiance and service.
Despite the culinary misstep, the standout feature of my experience was undoubtedly the service. The staff at Dockside are attentive, courteous, and adept at ensuring diners feel well-cared for throughout their visit. From friendly greetings to timely check-ins, their commitment to customer satisfaction shines through.
Even though the food may not have been exceptional, the attentive service and pleasant ambiance make Dockside a worthwhile dining destination. Whether for a casual lunch or a special occasion dinner, the restaurant's marsh front location and hospitality make it a charming choice for any occasion. While I may not rush back for the cuisine alone, I would gladly return for another dose of Dockside's warm...
Read moreService was excellent. All personnel that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. They were also very considerate of food allergies, offering options and informing us when something was cooked with or near potential allergens. For appetizers we ordered the Cajun Calamari and the Oysters Rockefeller. Everyone in our group agreed that these two dishes were the best things that we had - in fact we agreed that these apps ranked in the top of similar dishes that we’ve ordered anywhere else.
For entrees we ordered the Scored Flounder, Blackened Swordfish, Fried Shrimp and three people ordered the Seafood Pasta. Of theses dishes, the flounder was plated beautifully and the flavor was very good. The other dishes were mediocre at best. The swordfish was not only very bland, it was undercooked. The noodles in the pasta were unevenly cooked to the point of one bite being crunchy and another being mushy. The sauce was also very heavy and greasy. While we were disappointed in our entrees, I would be remiss if I neglected to mention portion size - which was impressive. Every entree was large enough to...
