Q’s Chicken Shack — Restaurant in Beaufort

I love this place and Q on bay, but I was very disappointed when I called to place a family order. I called a few hours in advance as it says on the page, but the gentleman who answered the phone told me they were busy and he didn’t have time to take my order. I have worked customer service jobs throughout my years and I would’ve worded than another way to a customer. I would’ve been happy to sit on hold or happy to drive all the way from base to place my order in person if that was easier for them. I understand times are chaotic right now, but there is still a way to speak to customers. My family and I are constant customers and absolutely love both places and have never had an issue, so this was shocking to me. The chicken is fantastic! Delicious, juicy, crunchy. If you dine in, 5 stars easy. I'm definitely coming back! Why my 4 star?

Maybe my decision to order through chownow (owner/management should try to order through it). Maybe not. Take out packaging was in cardboard/paper material boxes. With all the moisture from the food, the boxes were falling apart. Please don't put ketchup, mustard, mayo etc. packets atop of unwrapped food. Ordered ranch got bleu cheese (sort of enjoyed it, but others might not). This time could be bad luck for me.

Mac and cheese as a side will never be a bad decision, nor the onion rings.

This was one of few non-chain spots open near the beach on a random Tuesday. The food was good, but it was a long wait for it. It wasn't crazy busy and we arrived pretty close to when they opened. The kids meal portions were great and their nugs were more meat than breading, which was great. I got the oyster po boy and my partner got the spicy chicken sandwich (wasn't that spicy but good). The fries were better than the onion rings. Those were super greasy and I wouldn't get them again. The inside space is cute, clean, but limited in space.
