Absolutely never again … 6 people. First, we were told we weren’t “allowed” to use the second grill on our full table so half of the table had to wait “in line” to cook their food, after a surprisingly long wait to have said raw food served despite the restaurant being completely empty. Zero help was offered in trying to decipher the menu or to understand the choices, items, etc … our lack of knowledge was clearly annoying our server. It was an issue for 2 people (1adult/1child) at the table to have their seafood combo cooked because “everyone at the table has to” go with cooked or raw … considering being not allowed both grills at the table, further confusion. VERY SMALL portions for the price! My meal was $30 for a small, thin ribeye, bowl of fried rice (fried was an extra $4 above the $30) ONE slice of onion, ONE mushroom cap and a piece of lettuce … and the person seated across from me found their raw seafood slapped on my beef plate but apparently that’s completely normal. Server was clearly annoyed and did not want to be helping us but I guess when you’re going to add auto tip due to party size anyway, without informing said party, then service doesn’t matter. It was like pulling teeth to get plates to put the cooked food on … not sure why it seemed odd that we did not want to put cook meat back in the raw puddles of cross contamination left on the plates, but I digress. $350 for 6 people … my first time at a Korean grill and severely disappointed. Go to Tokyo for the “entertainment” experience for this amount of money. At least you will receive an...
Read moreExcited that I finally got to try this while passing through town. With a few minor adjustments, this place could be amazing.
We ordered a mix of bbq and other menu items. They have a variety of soju. We tried the Subak fresh which wasn’t bad, but was too heavy on lime. I would try a different cocktail next time.
We ordered the KO bloom with pork, but it came out after our entrees. Flavor 10/10, chopping 4/10. Too much of the onion was left whole instead of cut into little pieces to become tasty fried bits.
We ordered a plate of brisket for the grill. The salad and banchan was decent. Only complaint here was the inconsistent thickness of the slices. Most were nice and thinly sliced, while others where thick bacon cut.
The biggest disappointment was the Korean Fried chicken sandwich. While the bun and sauce was good (KO sauce) the chicken did not have that thick crunchy batter that I was expecting. It could have come from KFC. The fries were not very hot and undercooked. This seemed to be consistent as every order of fries I saw was unusually pale colored. I would recommend passing on the fry dishes.
The service was good. I look forward to visiting again and hope they can make the corrections to make it...
Read moreFinally, a place with an Asian influence in Beaumont that is actually worth going to! Hallelujah! We've been to most in the area, including PHO...and it's been a big strike out at every turn.... Enter KO Korean BBQ. Unlike 95% of places in this town, KO offers a bright, contemporary look! While not incredibly large, the layout is decent. It was busy! The food was very, very good. Authentic Korean cuisine fused with an American style presentation. Very unique. Our waitress was a delightful blonde lady and very attentive to my wife's gluten allergy. Again- not par for the course in this town. My wife had a rice bowl and I had the short rib BBQ. For appetizers, we tried the beef and pork egg rolls. Both entrées and appetizer were bright, vibrant, and fresh. The fried rice was also fresh and delicious. The Korean BBQ Short Ribs were cooked to perfection. My only recommendation to the owner of this establishment? Never serve your short rib on top of a plate of raw onion. Number One- sautéed and perfectly seasoned onions would elevate the dish. Serving them on a bed of raw onions takes away from the presentation and quality of your dish. Apart from that- wonderful food and atmosphere. We will...
