Overall: 4.5/5.0 *Food: Agedashi Tofu & Kirimochi Light batter on tofu and kirimochi, but enough to soak up the tempura sauce. Kirimochi and tofu were both soft and chewy with a crispy exterior. 10/10
Lobster Kara Age Just what you would expect from Kara Age, crispy and juicy. Not too oily, not too much batter. Yuzu mayo covers the oiliness of the fried lobster. Citrus sauce is not overwhelming. 10/10
Sushi & Sashimi Combo (Sushi) Excellent quality sashimi grade fish. No fishy aftertaste, rice was not overly sweet or salty and not overcooked. Fish slice size was larger and thicker compared to other restaurants. 10/10
Sushi & Sashimi Combo (Sashimi) Excellent quality sashimi grade fish. Hamachi was extra fatty and had amazing texture. Akami was not fishy at all, texture was great. White fish on the side with yuzu sauce was a little fishy. Could improve, but overall an amazing dish with thick cut sashimi. Definitely satisfied expectations. 8.5/10
Otoro Tuna Sashimi Market price; reasonable price for the thick cut and quality. Melts in your mouth, no fishy aftertaste. Ordered after checking the fish quality from the sushi & sashimi combo. I had high expectations and the expectations were met. Great slices of fish. 10/10 *Service: Reservation was 6:30pm, but due to traffic, I arrived 15 minutes late. I had called in beforehand, which they kindly let us in despite the delay. Once seated and ordered at 7:00pm, pre-dinner sides, miso soup, and water were provided. Appetizers came out 10 minutes later, sashimi and sushi came out 10 minutes after the appetizers. Despite full seating, food came out fast, and of course with excellent plating and quality. Servers came around frequently to check on any needs. Overall, friendly servers, food quality is great.
Atmosphere: Overall very much satisfied. For the price of the items, quality and quantity was assured and tasted great. Restaurant was clean and quiet despite the full seating. Again, friendly servers and excellent food quality as well as fast serving time. Portland never really had great sushi/sashimi, but I definitely recommend coming here at least once, as the items I have ordered tasted great. Many liquor choices(wine, beer, sake, cocktails, etc.) and good choice of desserts as well. Would recommend if you dislike fish due to its fishiness since the sashimi and sushi here have no...
Read moreI was eager to try this new, local spot out and it did not disappoint! Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and given two tables to choose from. I opted to sit at the counter, since I was dining solo and it was a Saturday night. My server quickly brought me a menu, followed by a complimentary amuse-bouche.
Since I was dining solo, I didn’t order an appetizer, but was impressed with the selection available. Instead I went with one specialty roll and one standard roll.
I started with the spicy tuna roll, which was delicious! The fresh quality of the fish and the sushi rice were assembled perfectly. I then had the deep fried golden roll, which included salmon, jalapeño, cream cheese, avocado with spicy mayo and unagi sauce on top. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a deep fried roll, but it was perfect!
I was impressed by how attentive and quick the staff were, despite a full house. Additionally, the Itamae (sushi chef) also checked in after my food was delivered to ensure my satisfaction.
As I finished up and asked for the bill, the server so kindly apologized for not giving me more personalized attention, which I quickly brushed off, as they had better service than any spot in the area I’ve visited recently!
I had a wonderful experience and look forward to bringing friends and family with my the next time around....
Read moreNOA sushi just opened up, and I was very impressed. The vibes were bright and clean, with small detail that felt personalized (for ex: the plates and dishware were very beautiful and felt crafted to the experience!).
The sushi felt VERY quality and was well portioned. Each meal felt like it was made with quality ingredients and was very good. I also loved that they had a little appetizer to begin your meal, it felt like a course meal. This is the new go-to sushi spot!!
What we ordered: -Tuna salad: loved the dressing on this, tasted a little korean spicy but really fresh -Salmon roll (forgot the name, its a speciality one): this was so good and had scallops inside! So good with the spicy mayo on the side. -Shrimp tempura roll: 5 piece, but don't be mistaken. There is actually 4 shrimp tempuras inside one of these huge rolls. This paired well with the udon. -Udon: had a rich, deep mushroom-like taste. Broth was actually really good and I love getting an udon to eat with my sushi, I need that broth in between each bite. -Bento box: this is HUGE and a great bang for your buck. A little taste of everything. We got chicken katsu +...
