There should be an unwritten rule that if a member of the party's food arrives after everyone else has finished eating, that item is removed from the bill, or, at the absolute least, a dessert is offered.
My family dined at the establishment during lunch on Saturday, June 29. We’ve been here numerous times previously and always had a decent experience. Today, however, was a huge disappointment. My order, a grilled chicken salad, arrived at our table after everyone else had finished their food. The waitress did not mention the apparent delay, so I asked to speak to the manager to provide feedback.
The manager, Eddie da Silva, seemed utterly disinterested in hearing anything I had to say. Not surprisingly, the bill arrived with no adjustments, and an excuse was given that there was an issue with the computer system.
It’s genuinely mind blowing that an establishment would not take even the slightest effort to remedy a patron's experience, ensuring a return visit and the likelihood that positive feedback is given to others on their experience. We’re taking this place off our list, considering other similar options nearby.
I wanted to take a moment to respond to Eddie’s remarks. First, I wanted to highlight two comments and, finally, provide a revised version of what would have been a more acceptable response.
“While you were visiting, I did ask if there was anything else you needed to enjoy your meal”. I’ll know next time I, as the patron, should be the one to bring up that the meal be removed from the bill.
“I noticed that you left a generous tip of over 20%, which I did not refund out of respect for the service provided by our team.” - The generous tip left is standard for what our family does when dining out. We understand the hourly rates for service industry staff tends to be dependent on tips, and we do not feel a less than positive experience, not remedied by management, should impact their income potential.
A more appropriate response to a negative review (sans passive aggressiveness) “Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and I appreciate the opportunity to address the situation. I regret the mistake of not adjusting your bill for the delayed grilled chicken salad, which was an error on both our staff and myself. To make amends, I have reversed the payment for your meal.
We strive to provide exceptional service and a memorable dining experience for all our guests, and I hope you will give us another chance to show you the quality and service you have come to expect from...
Read moreWhere to start? We have been coming here regularly since it opened about 3 years ago. The only thing that has remained consistent is George, and his water service. IYKYK. It's a great location, no issue with atmosphere, especially the outdoor patio area, but lately the food and service is hit or miss. We were there this weekend and it was a big time miss. Our server, whom I believe she said was the manager, was terrible. She kept pushing Tequila shots on us-which we declined, and raved up the special so hard, we both ordered it. The special was Halibut with potatoes and spring vegetables. While the Halibut was indeed good, the vegetables were frozen peas and half cooked carrots. Not a $35 offering, in my opinion. I also ordered the 2Towns Peach Cider 16 oz, which the menu describes is a 16oz draft. I specified this to our server because most of the other ciders on their menu come in a 13 oz glass. What I received the first time, was a cider in the 13oz sniffer which was not the peach- she placed the order for the Portland Cider instead. Incidently my husband also received the wrong beer which had to get sent back, but not before she tried to give it to the table behind us after we had taken a sip from the glass. Both myself and another waiter were saying "No don't do that" after she had given it to the other customer... Yikes.. But to top it off, she returned with our beverages and my cider was again in the 13oz glass. I pointed out that the menu advertises a 16oz pour and she said that that glass is 16oz. She went so far as to bring out a glass of water that she says she measured in the cider glass and it was almost 16 oz, so close enough. . . I don't think I've ever had such sassy service from someone working for a tip and return business before, and also from someone possibly in management? ? No attempt to make it right. Needless to say, we will take our money elsewhere. Thank you for reading if you...
Read moreThe food: Potato leak pizza: it was definitely delicious. However, that being said the portions are decent sized but a little pricey for what I felt it was worth, but to each their own. $17 dollars for a delicious potato leak pizza that was seriously 1/3 crust (maybe slightly more) albeit, the 2/3 part that was the toppings itself, well the taste was delicious. That being said a little too greasy, not enough protein, but I think I would order it again just because it was so delicious.
The calamari: I would honestly say I wouldn't get again. I felt it was a rip off, personally for $11 dollars I don't exactly want tiny greasy pieces. I would like decent sized pieces (grease is normal it is fried after all, but something about it was too greasy. I do like that it was paired with arugula. I've paid less for better quality is all I'm saying (but yummy lemony tarter sauce paired with it) !
Now the view: The view itself was so beyond gorgeous that, that factor alone would make me want to come back! The fire, the Christmas decorated trees were so gorgeous, and the lake view with the water dancing above was so pretty!
Service: Our server was very nice. Very attentive, hardworking and came to check on us multiple times and it was a pretty busy Saturday evening even at 9pm when we arrived! Our water glasses were always filled and he cared to know how we liked his suggestions on food and beer!
Beer: The beer I tried was a beligan dark, 10%. Strongest beer on their menu, but smooth in taste! It had supposed fig and dark chocolate notes, which I didn't taste but it was smooth and I don't really indulge in beer. I would say a little less dark and strong than an IPA, but definitely one growler (14 ounces) gets you a nice buzz!
I would come back just for the view, nice service, good ambiance, and to try other items on the menu and give it a couple...
