So disappointed!!
My daughter and I wanted some sushi, we were headed to Marshalls & Kohl’s so we figured we’d stop at Taipei. We haven’t been here for about 10 years and I’m glad seeing how they run things. Service was rude, we went through the menu and decided on what we would order, chicken wings crab Rangoon and two separate orders of sushi for the price range in our budget and cost on the menu, when we got the bill everything was two dollars more??? I had questioned the waiter he told me to talk to the manager, ok..when I did speak to the manager he’s said “you’re the only one complaining” I explained “this is fraud” people need to know the price. Cross out the the old amount and put the new amount on your menu He stated “we’re waiting we’re waiting for the menus “ You can’t tell people it’s one price and then charge them two dollars more each item or whatever the extra is. I know things have gone up but that’s fraud so he made me deduct it myself! I had to go through and deduct everything, he did take it off my bill but not a good thing. After we left my daughter said the people at the other table were calling me a Karen. Really!!! Eating out now a days is a luxury and you go in stating how much you think you’re going to pay or wanting to pay and when the bill comes and it’s an additional $10 that you’re not expecting then that is wrong. It’s like everything else people, If We Don’t Stand UP For What’s Right then NOTHING Will Get Done!!! e”In ever aspect especially when it’s coming out of your pocket , and if they can’t just update their menu or put a sign on the door stating the cost is gone up our prices are not correct. I told the gentleman that or whoever he is and he was rude and mad and didn’t want to hear it, I told him I would...
Read moreWe have been to a few sushi bars in the area, and this one is easily the best. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door.
We sat at the bar and ordered cocktails - mai tai and blue Hawaiian. We expected sweeter cocktails, but instead they were PERFECTLY balanced! Really lovely.
We ordered the Japanese fried chicken appetizer, and crab Rangoon - very basic apps, and they blew us away. Fresh-tasting and hot!
We then ordered sushi to share - snow roll, amazing roll, and spicy tekka (tuna) roll. We saw Vincent (we later learned he is a sushi chef of 30 years, from Taiwan, who loves to golf) make our rolls very diligently and carefully. The taste was astounding, the freshest we’ve had in the area. The rolls were packed full of flavor, and even soy sauce felt unnecessary!
As we ate our sushi, Vincent floated over to us to ask how our meal was. He then told us about the fresh bluefin tuna and sea urchin that they’d got in to the restaurant that day - he told us that next time, we should get the bluefin tuna sashimi. He seemed passionate about the benefits of fresh fish in one’s diet, and how coveted bluefin tuna is even in East Asian culture. You can tell his work means a lot to him. We saw the staff’s interactions with customers and could tell that building relationships is important to them. They wanted to get to know us in such a kind way - and that they were proud of their product.
It was so refreshing to feel the staff care about the quality of their food. We love Asian cuisine, specifically sushi, and this place takes the cake! Could not recommend this...
Read moreOur first time at this place was pretty awful. Service was piss poor at best. They brought a couple items we ordered, but never came back with the rest for another fifteen minutes, so the first part was completely cold by the time it got here. The pork fried rice had a soapy taste, so I didn't finish it. My friend ordered a few sushi rolls, ate a few bites, but they felt it tasted metallic, which isn't good. When we told the server what was wrong, she looked mortified, and after meeting the chef, i understood why. He came up to our table and proceeded to gaslight us over it, telling us that it was our problem, not his. He then took the food to another table and ask them if it looked ok or not. Super rude. "You ate it, you're paying for it", even though he took the food away, which only had two bites eaten. The salad looked old, soggy, and possibly repurposed. We were polite and fine with paying for what we ate, but the chef hovered and acted like he wasn't going to let us leave. Definitely won't be...
