This is a subway I used to frequent since it’s right next to the school I attend. I had a bathroom emergency, and I came in and asked for the key. She kind of acknowledged me, but continued to keep making this customers sandwich. I don’t know why she couldn’t just take a second to hand me the key, but maybe there was a factor I wasn’t seeing. After waiting, she asked me what I want, and I ask for the key again. She had a vibe implying she was annoyed, but again, didn’t want to assume.
After I finish my business I said thank you, and as I am walking out she loudly says “next time you have to buy something” as if somehow I am completely inconsiderate. It’s a basic courtesy to let people use the restroom, and I made sure to leave it clean. It’s LA, it’s hard enough to find a bathroom, I don’t need to be guilted into buying a mid sandwich because you’re having a bad life.
