-RANT- I have been wanting to try this pizza shop since they took over the previous pizza establishment a little while ago, and I was excited to finally walk in and order a pizza the other day. Though once I opened the door I should have known what kind of pie I was about be stuck with. This place has been around for more than few months but they still look like they've just unpacked, the tables are set up fairly crowded, no stools at the bar dining area, they have a nice TV but they've 'conveniently' set it up so it can really only be viewed by those in the kitchen prep area. I can look past this to be honest but once I started looking at the menu the woman taking my order was overbearing and just wanted to take my order and usher me on, she even started writing down toppings I had not decided on and i had to correct her more than once. When I finally DID decide what I wanted (Lg. Italian Sausage and grilled onions) I got my soda and sat down. They get right to work tossing the dough and putting on the topping and tossing it in the oven. Not long after that I smell the distinct acrid odor of dough burning but I thought nothing of it because surely they would inform me if my order had been messed up and it would take a little while longer to get my food, this was not the case, instead I hear from behind the counter that the chef and woman who took my order are eating my burnt pie and exclaiming about how good it was. Its now 20+ minutes since I came in and ordered and still no pie, keep in mind I'm the only person in the establishment who has placed an order so it should be in and out in no time. When I finally get my new 'not burned' pizza it was just that, 'not burned', so 'not burned' that it was under done. By the end of the first slice i was having to choke it down. The crust looked awesome but that was about it, the cheese was piled on way too thick, and as a result was hard and gummy and not melted, the tomato sauce was tangy and bland, though the toppings were decent. I went to the counter to get a large to go box and the same woman gives me a scowl and cranes over to see what i haven't eaten and trudges off to get a box. She asked if it wasnt good and I told her why, but she didn't seem to care. I left and took my meager excuse for a pizza home and after doctoring it up with some simple herbs and cooking it once over to a delicious golden brown in my oven it was actually pretty good! But I am NOT coming back to this place, even if they get their act together. This was not a comforting pizza...
Read moreI wanted to share some constructive feedback, because this is my favorite pizza place.
I am a regular who orders pick up orders once a week. In my opinion, this is the best pizza in town. I usually go on Sundays and the service is good. However, today Friday 7/10, this place was busy. When I ordered over the phone, they gave me an estimated pick up of 45 min. When I got there to pick up my pizza, they had me waiting for 45 min more.
I could see that the guys where pretty busy, but I also keep hearing them taking additional orders over the phone and telling people that the estimated time would be 40 min.
I understand it was a busy night, but I do believe customer’s deserve to have a more accurate estimated time, especially during Covid time. The last thing you want is a line of people waiting in that little shop for their orders. Also, I think it is just curtesy to respect everyone’s time.
Again, the quality of this pizzas are fantastic and the crew that works there were all working hard to keep up with the orders. I am writing this because I am believer that there is always room for improvement.
I hope they can improve their estimated time a bit better, because besides that, their pizzas...
Read moreThis is one of two Luigi's Pizzerias in the Houston area (the other is in Midtown). It's has a fun pizzeria vibe with limited seating, a couple arcade machines, and a glimpse into the kitchen where they are prepping the pizza.
The pizza itself is tasty. There are plenty of toppings to choose from and items on the menu. I'm not the biggest fan of the crust. It's not quite a typical any pizzeria crust. It's a little too airy, which I'd usually love if it were a wood fired style pizza.
The employee who was working greeted me as I walked in, and he was friendly enough. Unprompted he asked for I needed anything like peppers or Parmesan. The service was efficient and pleasant, which is all I'm looking for when ordering a pizza from a pizzeria.
Some tips: Check out the weekday specials (picture of special menu attached). I took advantage of the Tuesday BYO 12" two-topping pizza for $12. Also, you can order online, and if you put in your phone number you will get a text with the estimated time to pick up your pizza, and you will also get a text when the pizza is...
