Thank you for your response but the doctor that treated my dad last isnât the reason for my complaint & 2 stars. If you read my review, it had to do with the cataract surgery and your scheduling department. 6/20/25
Eye Center of Texas did reach out following my original review below. However their representative left over a 1 minute message on my dadâs phone without leaving a name or contact follow up. I called their office to follow up on Monday 6/16/2025, but the representative that I spoke to did not know who to connect me with. As of Tuesday 6/17/2025 at 1pm I nor my dad have received a follow up call from them.
Original Review: I donât think Iâll be taking my dad back to Eye Center of Texas. From December 2024 to June 2025 I have been taking my dad back & forth for a cataract surgery in one eye that went horribly wrong. During the initial procedure to remove the cataract, about 60% of the cataract fell to the back of his eye (retina) due to, as the surgeon stated my dad having weak zonules. Even though the surgeon had assessed this as the problem he put a lens on the zonules and that ended up falling to the back of the eye too. (So we paid for a lens that was trashed 1 month later!) My dad had to wait several weeks (to heal & get on schedule) to see their retina specialist to clean all of that up. Then again had to wait to heal and wait to get on schedule to get back to the cataract surgeon to put a new lens on. Whatâs frustrating is the amount of money spent, what should have been a few hundred dollars , ended up being thousands of dollars , we had to pay for 3 surgeries , surgery center visits, & anesthesiology all for 1 eye cataract that went bad. My dad hasnât been able to drive, & I have had to take time off from my full time corporate job to help him get to these appointments & assist with his day to day errands. We also ran into some billing issues where the clinic tried to charge my dadâs medicare insurance for dilation that wasnât needed. However after I demanded to speak to a clinic manager she corrected the misunderstanding. Also the wait times at times were unbearable two specifics examples that come to mind was the wait for the retina specialist (we waited for 2 hours before being called from the waiting room to that back holding area) and this last time at the Kirby Glen surgery center we waited for 4 hours before my dad was prepped for surgery. In both occasions we had to speak to a manager to be seen. I will say the optometrists & ophthalmologists that managed my dadâs inflammation and pressure were good. One in particular who I donât want to name bcuz Iâm giving this a 2 star review, was the only healthcare provider or eye center representative to acknowledge that my dad had been through a-lot and she made sure my dad had a seamless recovery. At this point my dad has been traumatized from this experience at the Eye Center of Texas and doesnât want to have his other eye be treated...
Read moreI want to write this review to share insight of another eye care provider who was treated here as patient myself. I am an optometrist who works at completely independent of this clinic primary eye care practice. I must say that Eye Center of Texas doctors, technicians and especially Dr. Wade himself are some of the most caring, attentive, and skilled providers I have ever met and had hoped to have as my care team. So far I had an in depth evaluation visit, then Peripheral Iridotomy procedure done at another visit and have one more different procedure planned in few more weeks. Every time the team at ECT are efficient, always welcoming, organized, make testing and procedures as comfortable as possible for their patients. The procedure that I recently had undergone was rather uncomfortable, almost painful, but doctor Wade and his assistant worked hard to minimize the discomfort and get me through it as quick as possible. Scheduling follow ups is made very easy as well. Of course, as expected due to multitude of tests they do there and pupil dilation time one should expect to be there for a bit, but again it is a specialty clinic where I want and expect full in-depth testing to be done. So, more time means more care for me. One can tell that the flow at the clinic has been trialed, tested and perfected, as everything from checking-in, to testing, to procedure, to check-our run seamlessly. Every time I leave knowing I had gotten best care possible. As an eye are provider myself, I feel absolutely calm and excited to refer my future patients for specialty care to Eye center of Texas. Hope this helps for those who are considering this clinic for their urgent and chronic eye care needs. Update 3/25/21 Itâs been almost 4 months since my ICL implant surgery to correct very high myopia and I can absolutely say that I am SO happy that I had this procedure. My vision is better than it was with either glasses or contacts. I am now able to get super light fashionable glasses if I want to, could not before because of the very thick lenses due to high glasses prescription prior to surgery. I thought it would take longer to fully recover, but 1 week after procedure my eyes felt great, ocular dryness is not any more than it was while wearing contacts, vision as I mentioned...to me is PERFECT! Highly recommend refractive surgery and other medical procedures if need be at...
Read more09/25/2026 visit. My appointment was at 03:30 pm. I have been waiting for an hour in the waiting room and another hour in the examine room. It was 05:30 pm when I walked out and asked the nurse about wait time. There were 4 patients ahead of me. She said maybe 40 mins, but I know with my numerous visits that 4 patients will take at least hour and half. I walked away. I have full time job and every single time when I have an appointment at eye Center of Texas i have to take half day off. You wait 3-4 hours to see a doctor for 15 mins. Whoever does scheduling appointments needs to do time study. They book 4 patiens per hour (15 mins each). Anyway, nothing will change and improve. Stuff will write apologies and all to this review, copy paste. Need to find a new place with less wait time. The absolute record wait time at this place was 4 hours. I am looking forward for the Eye Center of Texas to beat that record.
Doctors are great, no doubt. The only reason coming to Bellaire location is because of Dr. Bell. Each visit takes about 4-5 hours more or less. Today my appointment was scheduled at 10:45, arrived at 10:28. After few short checks done by tech I was put on the waiting room. After waiting for an hour I asked a tech what is going on. I have been told that there are 3 more patients ahead of me which meach another 1.5 hours of waiting. I was fed up with their wait time within 1.5 years I have been going there. I said my appointment was at 10:45, now it is 11:45 and you telling me there are 3 more patients ahead of me. I walked away and won't come back. I will find another place where my time is respected. I won't recommend this place to anyone. Front desk has to manage appointments time better to respect patients time. Great...
