Romer's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bellbrook

Ate inside with my Fiancé for our first visit (06-26-23) since we moved to Bellbrook around 8pm. We walked there since we live very close. The walk there was more welcoming than our visit itself. I had looked up the menu before making our way there to get an understanding of the food. Upon sitting down, the first thing the waitress / bartender (she did not share her name) said to us is that they are not cooking food other than fry items due to staffing issues? Considering we were the only ones sitting at a table ordering food, this provided a little confusion to me but did not stress about it although I was interested in trying their subs. We ended up ordering some margaritas, fried pickles and chicken wings. Upon the bartender sending my order to the back, I could over hear her telling the cook / whoever was back there about how she “told them we’re not cooking food because she’s not doing this tonight”. Nonetheless, we stuck it out to enjoy what was left of the evening. The wings & ranch combo was actually really good. That is strictly the only highlight about our night here.

I don’t usually write bad reviews because I know how a stressful night of work can be, but this was completely unprofessional and rude to ruin our first experience at a sports bar that we had interest in coming to often now that we live around the corner from it. Food is surprisingly good for a bar. Great pizza, seriously. Wings, we get them with sauce on the side and no joke, it's like a double win - eat as fried chicken and / or dipping it in wing sauce, awesome either way. Giant fried pretzel is so good and their fried cauliflower is fantastic (get it with wing sauce and they're even better). Patty melt and Reuben are both solid. Fried green beans are good maybe a little too much breading for me personally but my wife thinks they're perfect. Service is good but so far there's only been 2 servers covering the whole floor so they can get a little backed up, but they're still good. The only thing I can say could really be improved is how fast the food comes out - but that could be due to size of kitchen, I really don't know how big it is or how many people work it so I give it the benefit of the doubt. Neither my wife or I drink but our friends meet us there and one got an Old Fashioned, he said it was I've of the better ones he's had anywhere.

Atmosphere is surprisingly good in that there's plenty of families with kids who go in, then there's the standard bar crowd and you'll get a mix of others in all age groups. Always a variety of music playing and I have to compliment them, their sound system is really good. For the sports lover, there's a TV with some sort of sorry playing just about anywhere you look.

So I Took my girlfriend into romers for her 21st birthday during our bar hopping. We got there at about midnight and they were open till 2 so we figured we wouldn't be much of a burden. As soon as we walked in the bartender, I believe his name was Andy, shot us the dirtiest look. We walked through and sat at a table so we wouldn't interrupt him and his bar regulars talking. We sit and he yells "you know there's no table service right?" And I said "it's all good can we just sit here and just come to you for the drinks?" He acted like he couldn't hear me even though it was dead throughout the place. So we played along not trying to be those drunk people killing his vibe and moved up to the bar. As soon as we sit down he rudely asks "so what do you want?" My girlfriend who has never been there asked what he had or if she could see a menu and he just sarcastically said "we have a full bar what do you want" so my girl kept asking him for help selecting a drink and he just starred at her. So then I say to him "let's just get two shots of jack" he turns to me and asks a bunch of questions about what kind of shot I wanted. I just wanted two shots of jack. He said ok then he asked for our id's because we were acting "odd". We took the two shots and left. I have never seen as rude of service in my life. I would definitely not recommend this place.
