Absolutely terrible experience – NEVER going back.
My mother, wife, and I visited The Cafe for breakfast today, as we’ve done many times before as loyal, returning customers. My wife always orders the chilaquiles with eggs and steak, which are typically mild and flavorful. But today, they were outrageously spicy—so hot that they were completely inedible. My wife could barely manage one bite before saying it was impossible to eat. She’s had this dish many times here and has never experienced anything like this.
We let our server know, and he kindly went to speak with the owner. Her response? She just made a face and didn’t care. We sent the plate back untouched and asked if it could be removed from our bill when we went to pay. The woman at the counter—who I now understand is the owner—responded with a nasty attitude and said, “Well, what do you want me to do? You should have asked if they were spicy!”
Seriously? Why should a regular customer have to ask if a dish is going to be completely different from what they’ve always received?
I replied, “We shouldn’t have to ask if you keep your cooking consistent.” She laughed in our faces, showed zero care or accountability, and still charged us for the food we didn’t eat.
To make matters worse, this same owner (short hair, large glasses) has a reputation for being rude—not just to customers, but to her own staff. I’ve seen her mistreat them firsthand, and multiple servers have told us how poorly she treats them behind the scenes.
It’s disgusting to watch someone who clearly doesn’t care about customer service or her employees. I refuse to spend another dollar supporting someone like that. Save yourself the frustration—take your business elsewhere. If there were an option for less than one star that’s where I...

Read moreSo I took my 2 kids, 3&5 for some breakfast on a Friday mid morning. The waiter was very fast and efficient which may have been part of the problem. Beyond the language barrier, when my 5 yo daughter needed to use the restroom mid meal, I wanted to make sure she could find it. We all got up and my son and I stood in the bar area while she went ( we were sitting right, back corner) because we were nowhere close. As she finished up and met us by the cash register, I noticed our table was cleaned off. I had to go back and grab my son’s little stuffed animal. Evidently, again through language barrier, they thought we left. I never received my bill and asked if they thought we dined and dashed? We finished about half our meal and obviously need to pay something but the full bill? Really? Not sure what you guys are trying to pull? But my family and I will definitely not be back by the way we were treated and I’m making others know as well....
