For someone to be so incapable of providing leadership to his staff, I was surprised at how rude the owner is to his employees. You have a group of kids that work for you, and all you can do is tell them how much they suck. Then make yourself seem all superior like you're better than everyone there. You must be very insecure with yourself to try and make every one else seem lesser than you. As a member of the community outreach programs for youth in development, I would never speak down to the youth in the manner that you do. Encouragement through positive criticism, as any educator would advocate for, in being able to provide guidance through teaching. You should be lucky enough to even have anyone work for you. Having overheard the conversations you've had with those young boys in the kitchen, tells me how incapable you are of working with other people. You might as well just run the entire restaurant by yourself. You have no respect for the people around you. I had wanted to try this place out, but it had left an undesirable taste in my mouth after dining in here with my husband. The coconut chicken was bland, and the adobo was very oily/greasy. Had to pick through all of the bay leaves that were still left inside it. Nonetheless, not what I was expecting. As for the kids, you should all have respect for yourselves and find someone who is willing to teach you properly rather than work with a man who is incapable of being a leader in the kitchen. As for Bry, learn to appreciate the people you have in your life. Or they might just leave you.

Read moreAs a Filipino, you never expect to see the Philippines mentioned. To my surprise, I spotted Bry's on my last trip to Bellingham. It's so exciting to see how many Filipino restaurants are coming up, especially elevated takes on my favorite comfort foods.
I had the sizzling sisig with a Pandana, and my partner had the coconut chicken with an Ube Princessa. We split some calamari and Brussel sprouts as well.
First, my mom never made Brussel sprouts like that! I would've eaten a lot more if it was. The sisig was tender with a beautiful char, decadent but I couldn't get enough! I would have liked a runny egg as a personal preference, but I also love the crispy edges of the over-hard egg. The Pandana was like drinking a buko pandan, and my child self met eyes with my adult self in such fulfilling satisfaction.
Maybe some Filipinos like their own ways, but I was truly pleased by the ways Bry's contributes to evolving our culinary identity. It's artful how Bry's adapts the recipes passed down by immigrants to a new land with different resources. It is authentic to the Filipino-American experience, the diasporic experience, and tastes absolutely delicious too.
I truly, truly wish I could shout out our waiter. I feel bad that I can't remember his name, but he made date night really special. I'll give it up to everyone at Bry's, because each person was at least friendly and attentive, if not sweet and charming.
The decor was a bit cringe, but I'm a Disney adult so I peddle in cringe. Specifically, the island slide show on the TV gave SingStar backgrounds. I vibe with that.
I don't know if I have enough superlatives to give Bry's. I can't wait to come back on our...
Read moreVisited this place for the first time while visiting over Labour Day weekend. This place is WAY better than any filipino restaurant in the Vancouver area and just destroys competition out of the water. Would absolutely recommend any Canadians to hop across the border and support this place.
We arrived and were greeting warmly by all the staff. Bry, himself, was working and waiting tables. Never met him before, so I asked if he was the namesake, and he smiled and struck the same pose as his logo, lol.
After asking what he recommended since we were first-timers, he suggested their new Combo platter, which had an assortment of Pork Adobo, Smoked Coconut Chickent, Filipino Style grilled Chicken, and Filipino Style Grilled Pork, all on a bed of rice and Pancit. He also let me know that he cooked up some Diniguan (not on their menu). This was great as I absolutely LOVE Diniguan, it being a comfort food growing up.
The food came, and the Combo platter was absolutely massive. The Diniguan was hearty and thick. We could not possibly finish everything, but every bite was delicious and savoury. The flavors are strong and the quality of ingredients is impressive.
We will be coming back for sure, and hope that support for Bry and his staff...
