I've wanted to like this place since it found a brick and mortar location. It's next to Menace which is a great local brewery and I'm always on the search for a great burger (in the various styles). My experiences have varied with each visit and I think this last visit was number five so I believe enough research was performed. I simply find the burgers wholly underwhelming. My last visit I had the 'Spicy' which was neither spicy nor delicious. In fact, I found it pretty bad. The bun was too large and devoid of any special qualities. It was essentially a holder, which in some burger cases ends up being fine, the bun is certainly not a deal breaker to me but it can also add quite a bit. The patty was pressed to meet the size of the bun and while in no way felt the price to portion ratio was off, it simply was also just generic, no weird gristly bits but just very much Sysco. The 'spicy' bit tasted like cold, wet and slimy hatch chilis with any sort of spice to them. They made the burger uncomfortably wet and the bun was struggling after a few minutes. There was also a great deal of some sort of thousand island which did nothing but attempt to dominate the flavor base and contributed to the bun decay. Sadly, I think I'm done with this place. I hope they are able to succeed and perhaps it's a good burger to another taste profile. They seem like a great addition to the...
Read moreDoug’s Burgers in Bellingham is the culinary equivalent of a group project where everyone gave up halfway through. It tries so hard to be quirky and edgy, join their cult? Weird day and age to try and identify with being in a cult. Local beef priced right? Their lack of flavor makes me question the ethics behind shop local.
The burger patty is a dry, flavorless puck smothered in chaotic toppings that do nothing but fight each other.
The chopped cheese sandwich feels like a fever dream someone had after watching a YouTube food vlog shoved onto a hoagie roll with cheese whizz and zero care.
And the prices? Are they being effected by the tariffs? It’s basically an upscaled AM/PM burger for 3x the price and tastes like regret and fryer oil.
Maybe I’m being a little rough, maybe it’s an attempt to get back to a certain mental homeostasis after having Cascades Best “Bellinghams Best Burger” award shoved down my throat, and lord do they like to tell you all about it! But the only thing that award tells me is that there’s a lot of people in Bellingham eating burgers without tongues.
I really wanted to like it, I was told it was the best online, took me a long time to actually go in… it just left me feeling dismayed. Like I had been lied to, or cheated on. Never again....
Read moreI’m really trying to like you but I waited a long time, paid a premium price to get this burger. I had more bun than burger. Just look at the picture. Is that the best you’ve got? I hope to delete this post with another try. I’m not trying to Karen you but please give me reasonable quality. Team meet, do the right thing and I’ll be a loyal patron. Please don’t take advantage that Bellingham has minimal options in quality and reasonably priced restaurants. I’m guessing you all were about to run out of sauce and pickles. Yeah, let’s go with that. If you’re gonna glue the meat to the bun with the cheese. A thin smash burger is usually met with gooey cheese and plenty of sauce to make it awesome. Please give at a minimum more sauce. I know you can do better than this and will consider this one off although I’ve been to your food truck three or four times now, often having to go back because something was forgotten or had an order error. I’ll give the Chipotle head nod for more sauce, I guess. Wife and I had to add our home condiments multiple times when getting it to go. Please do better. Wishing you all...
