This review is only based on my call-in pickup experience at THIS location. After attempting to place an order to pick up by calling in, I was told to hold for ā€œone quick secondā€ by an extremely (honestly) polite young person. I thought, ā€œAwesome, no problemā€ First 5 minutes, I heard someone placing an order in the restaurant. No problem, they were probably there first. Someone else came and picked up an order for Katie and wanted extra chips for free. Cool. 10 minute mark: Heard numerous doordash and grubhub drivers pick up various orders. 15 minutes: I heard them making and coordinating plans for their night out. A whole bunch of fun and singing involved. They seem like a great group of friends and a great time. 30 minutes: I call another restaurant and place an order (whole phone transaction took 47 seconds) 35 minutes: Driving to pick up my order at another restaurant — Now here we are 1 hour and 45 minutes later. My friends and family have had a delicious dinner. (Obviously not from here) Watched a few episodes of our tv shows. And enjoyed our night. I finally hung up at 10pm. Because the restaurant closed. Extremely disappointed in the poor quality of customer attentiveness. I am grateful that I was able to discover a new restaurant due to this whole ordeal but I can’t say I’m eager to try calling here again.

My fella and I came here for din din on a Tuesday night and found the place bustling. We were greeted so warmly by the woman up front, who seated us immediately. The first thing we noticed were the bowls of seafood soup on the table next to us - next time that's a must...instead we had the table side guacamole, the three amigos, and the fajitas vallarta. I can speak for all of it. The guac just tasted green - so fresh and refreshing - the lime really shone through - a complement to the margaritas. The fajitas came piled high, and well seasoned. The fat from the chorizo brought an unctuousness to the dish, without being greasy. The steak, shrimp, and chicken were all tender and flavorful. I only tasted the chicken on my boyfriends dish (the three amigos) and it reminded me of the chicken from my own home made tortilla soup - it was shredded and carried the flavor of its own stock, while picking up the spices on the plate. I regret that I don't know the names of the people who waited on us, but we will be back soon and often, and will be sure to learn them next time. We are new to the area and have found our new favorite restaurant - what a warm (and spicy!) welcome we received at Sol de Mexico! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

It certainly has a good vibe for Mexican restaurant. But there's another local Mexican restaurant that is very good called Acapulcos. Comparing it towards that I definitely felt that this vegetarian dinner that I personally had was tasteless and not so good. For instance the marinara that they put over it had too much oregano and basil. It tasted like a low cost marinara sauce that did not fit with Mexican flavors at all- took Italian flavored. Especially In comparison to the other same vegetarian meal I have at the other place. My friends said their meals were good. One enjoyed her steak fajitas and chicken fajitas were good. The three of us enjoyed our meals but did not feel in comparison that we would venture here again. Service was good, atmosphere was festive and price was normal. Giving this a four star because when my wife and I were seated we did not get our chips and salsa right off the bat we had to ask for it and it took a little while for our food to be delivered. With that in mind once the food was delivered it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chimichanga with ground beef and it came with shredded beef. When I mentioned this to the waiter he went and came back and brought me two more with the ground beef and no charge to me. both the shredded beef and ground beef chimichangas were delicious.

I'm looking to update this review and possibly give Sol de Mexico three Stars. The reason for this is not necessarily their food or the service or anything like that as I find their food delicious and their service very accommodating. What I am not happy about with Sol de Mexico is the fact that when they are closed for a holiday or for apparently the entire weekend of July 4th they don't put any signs on their door, they don't tell anybody in advance, they don't leave messages on their phone they just locked the door. I find this very unprofessional for a business. I live in Norton and drove 18 miles for a dinner date only to find them closed upon arrival.

I am reconsidering my three star review from earlier this month and giving this establishment a five-star. Although I am still not happy about them being closed during the 4th of July weekend, I should not be reviewing a restaurant on whether or not they are open when I want to visit, but on their quality of food and service. I went back to Sol de Mexico last week, because they're food is delicious, reasonably priced and their service is friendly and professional.

All around good. The red sauce on the deluxe burrito was more of a tomato spaghetti sauce definitely not a red sauce. Beef was good and burrito filled nicely. I dislike getting a sliced tomato versus diced. I prefer diced and feel the majority of people agree, and most places still give a whole slice. The chimichanga was fried amazing. The ends still soft holding in WELL marinated chicken, so GOOD! But because of take out I didn't get that full cheese sauce experience. Meals, or at least one said rice, but there wasn't any. I ordered a side of it anyways and it was perfect. Kinda wish they didn't forget. Chips were fresh and thick, perfect for their chunky salsa. Sour cream and guacamole were fresh the sour cream was nice and thick not runny. For $34 it's amazing. Also service was great I was greeted by a young man with a Beautiful smile a welcome a young lady had my order bagged and ready. She helped me bag the sodas that caught my eye. I'll be back for sure! Everything was awesome outside of personal preference. Update! Second time around. 12/30/21. I deliver doordash and come here a few times a month. I keep saying "go back" to myself and I did! I finally decided to splurge the day before take out goes nuts and they didn't disappoint! Rice is perfect. I'm Portuguese and rice in a dish is important. The chiles rellenos was outstanding. The meat mixture definitely has a nice pork sausage texture. It is loaded and I'm not mad! I got a vegetarian combo and was delicious just wish the spinach quesadilla was filled a bit More. Everyone here is always nice and makes sure you've been taken care of. Some confusion with my pick up (I let my husband order) šŸ˜‚ I love this place and every meal splurge...

I will start by saying I'm a huge fan of mexican food and lived close to the border of Mexico for half of my life. I don't normally eat mexican food outside of the south but I thought I'd give this place to try. The atmosphere seemed normal for a mexican restaurant, and the menu had lots of choices many of them authentic. I wanted something simple so I had tacos and an enchilada. The salsa was bland but the chips were good. I like my mexican food spicy. I asked for some jalapeno on the side to try to spice it up. The iced tea was from a fountain, so it tasted like something out of a can. Once I got my meal. I had to ask again for the jalapenos. They got my order wrong but were quick to remedy it. The overall flavor was good but again very bland. In Texas, our Mexican food comes spicier than what they serve. They were not very busy but my waitress did not come around much, probably not an issue normally, but there were several things that I needed assistance with and the manager fixed them when he stopped by to check how everything was going. Probably the strangest thing that happened while I was still sitting at my table snacking on chips and relaxing after my meal, the person bussing the tables came by and not only took all of my dishes and chips but wiped the table down while I was still sitting there. I have never had that happen to me and I was in shock. Being a solo diner, it was very embarrassing because it was almost like I wasn't even there anymore. They were nice enough to comp my meal but by then I just wanted out of there. I did go ahead and tip the waitress. They assured me they would remedy it. Until they fix the salsa and spice up the food a little I will...
