This place was amazing. We went on a whim because of the proximity and the promise of quick, quality, yet inexpensive mexican cuisine. When we entered, the smell was heavenly. There were plenty of ethnic people there, signifying that the food was authentically good. We got a to-go chicken with beans, rice and corn tortillas, and a carne asada meal.
They gave us a few cups to fill at the salsa bar. Habanero sauce was like spicy ranch. We hated it, but you might like it. The avocado sauce was just that; avocado sauce. Kind of bland. The Chile arbol was what really stood out among the sauces. It was smoky and delicious. Apart from those three, the sauces were mediocre.
Now, onto our actual food. First off, beautiful chicken. The flavor was rich, and smoky. Lime pairs perfectly with the chicken and adds a tangy and fresh accent to the flavor. The rice was great. It tasted like real mexican rice (tomato based) rather than the boxed variant that you can see in some restaurants. The charro beans were watery but they had a nice flavor to them. They're fine if you combine the rice with them. The carne asada was good. The corn tortillas were nice and elastic. They didn't tear underneath my fingers, nor did they tear when they were filled with chicken, beans, and rice.
Go here for a good meal that will fill you up and leave...
Read moreI haven't come before as it's about 15 minutes from my house and I didn't want to carry it home. I like having it for the first time as they serve it.
I wasn't disappointed. It was delicious. The chicken fell off the bones. The beans were flavorful without being too hot. The rice was even good. The corn tortillas were generic. But they often are.
They have a salsa bar, but I could only try the mild salsa. That's my limitation. For those who can eat hot foods, I'm sure it's a treat.
I was afraid that the chicken would be too spicy. It wasn't. Lots of spices, but not hot. I even tried to get a picture of the spices to show how amazing.
There were big pieces of salt pork. I mean I could tell it was the skin of a pig. Not a turn off to me at all!
My only disappointment was the pineapple empeñadas. I just don't like the crust.
This is food I can see being served in Mexico. It was so very good. Did I mention how good the chicken is?
I will definitely be ordering again. Perhaps through delivery since I know what to expect now. I can get a whole chicken and eat on it a...
Read moreWOW is the first word that comes to my mind , I came for a conference at Baylor University which lasted well until dinner time. Some of us wanted something better then KFC and healthier. One of my friends recommend this place. Fresh chickens ,salsas, pretty good side dishes. We jumped on it. We got there and we were right away greeted with some nice smiles It was pretty busy. ( Good sign) We are from LA. , if it’s not busy it’s not worth checking out. Amada the cashier took our orders ( nice gal ) and the price was reasonable. Did I mention we kinda followed the smell from a block away. That smell of goodness in the air . So the four of us made ourselves at home and took advantage of the salsa bar Our order was brought to us by Cecilia. The manager. Very polite . , pretty quick. ( nice gal) I think Texas is way different then I was made to believe , Real good hard working people Let me say this meal hit the spot. The chicken was so juicy and the beans were awesome. Bacon!! Yes just like home. This place rocks. I wonder if they...
