Amazing flavors, fun space, super nice staff... But the inconsistencies in food building and consistent offerings, needs more oversight and focus to really shine.
First time I went it was amazing, best tacos in Bend, some of the best tacos I've ever had! Flavor profiles were clearly researched and developed (and amazing). The Al Pastor had creamy guacamole bursting with fresh flavors of onion, cilantro and an occasional sweet punch of pineapple topped with a tiny crunch of cabbage. Amazing!
The second time... They barely put any guacamole, onions or cilantro on the El Pastor tacos, and I didn't find one bite of pineapple on either of the 2 Al Pastor tacos I got. The spit pork is delicious... unless you get there early and get the dried remains from the previous day. Also, the barbacoa taco had so much fat, I had to throw away half of the taco fillings. Disappointing to say the least.
They really have something with this place but I believe it needs some focus and oversight on consistently building the food properly. I know places can have off days (not to mention staffing issues) but after reading the other reviews, it seems like the inconsistencies are more of a constant. I will still go back of course but now feel I may have to stress a lot more of what I want on the taco in order to insure its actually on there.
The photo attached, is from the first time I went, I should have gotten another photo to show the difference but was too hungry and missed the opportunity. Take this as an example of how it...

I’ll do my typical breakdown of why I rated it the way I did.
Service (4 stars): I’ll give it a 4 out of 5 because for a restaurant to have you pay at the counter, you can’t really call that service. However, the person behind the counter was friendly and helpful.
Food (1 star): I have had a number of different Mexican dishes, and I got a typical carnitas bowl, which is essential a pull carnitas dish without the taco or burrito. They had a punch of flavor, and I couldn’t tell if my tongue should be on fire or if I was eating something sweet. Neither flavors were Mexican to how I have had it and to be honest I couldn’t even finish it… which is saying something considering I eat almost anything. So… the flavors just contradicted and confused. The mild salsa wasn’t not mild. The meat was minimal and not proportional to the filler sides (beans, rice, greens, etc).
Environment (3 stars): it was nothing to complain about. Inside was pretty loud and noisy, and outside was average
Overall, just because the food didn’t agree with my taste buds, it isn’t a bad place to go. I would rather go somewhere else for something tastier. So I gave it a 3 star (I suppose I could have given...
Read moreWent there for the first time and hot a fan. There workers are friendly people no problem there. It is the food and prices that are not to my liking. When ordering at the kiosk you see the options, in my case I ordered tacos but noticed that it does not specify the quantity of tacos there are in one order. It costed me over $4 dollars for 1 taco. I also ordered a burrito for $13 I didn't have much to argue with the price of this item because again first time and did not know the specifications like size of the burrito. For the taste the taco was a no I ordered the al pastor taco with simply celantro on it, but it came coated with a sause that was in a way to put it a tangy zesty type of flavor that in my personal opinion shouldn't be on this type of food. And simply make the taco unlikable. Clarification it is edible it was not a yuck or spit it out type of flavor. It crashed with how a regular al pastor taco tastes. The burrito was actually okay it did not taste like the barbacoa I'm used to but it passed. After this experience I can say I will not return simply not my type of version...
