I’m not trying to be negative, but I do hope this serves as constructive feedback on customer service.
We stopped in for blue crabs—just because we happened to pass by on our way to Trader Joe’s. When we walked in, no one greeted us and there didn’t seem to be any activity behind the counter. No problem—we decided on the crabs labeled $8 each or $96 per dozen, made a quick call to see who else wanted in, and placed our order within about five minutes.
As soon as we told the clerk which crabs we wanted, we noticed he was pulling smaller crabs than expected. At the same time, another employee began changing the signage from $8/$96 to $10/$120 for the size we’d originally picked. Naturally, we were confused.
When we asked about it, the response was fairly short—something like, “We make mistakes and we’re in transition.” My concern is that from the moment we walked in until we ordered—and presumably even before—the crabs were mislabeled, and this wasn’t clarified until we brought it up.
The clerk himself was friendly, and they did offer two extra crabs. But it felt like the decision had already been made that we were wrong to expect the posted price. Another employee even tried to involve another customer to confirm that the signage was being changed while we were there. From our perspective, though, the labels were in place from the time we entered until the moment they were altered in front of us—which made it feel like false advertising or even a bait-and-switch. When we tried to explain our side, we were repeatedly cut off.
I’m really hoping the crabs are good—I just wish the interaction had gone differently. Clear communication up front would have avoided all of...
Read moreI don't like to be negative , but I also like to be fair. I visited for the first time being in the area because I wanted to try something different. I ordered 3 fried platters consisting of fried shrimp , whiting's and fries and 2 in cooked crab cakes that I haven't cooked yet. I wanted to bring platters to my grandmom and mom also as my treat. I first noticed the prices were pretty high but felt if the food was good that didn't matter, I spent around $78 and was totally disappointed in the food. I have never tasted shrimp so bad. There was absolutely no seasoning to the point where they tasted like card board, the shrimp were more breaded than anything. Shrimp is my favorite food as for me to leave them at my grandmom's for family to eat says a lot that's how bad they were, the fries were barely cooked and the fish was just as bad , breaded with no seasoning, this by far was the worst platter we ever had. I hate to leave such a bad review but it was my sincere feelings about the food I...
Read moreI have known Gted for 20+ years now as a loyal customer. Fred makes this easy because of the vast array of super fresh locally sourced and overnight shipments from Louisiana. He also provides frozen West Coast and Alaska products. This tiny store is choc full of great food. Next he offers cooked food for virtually every product they offer. The Craw Fish are done like no where else outside of the South, (never frozen) 2 types of fresh Maryland crab cakes. His staff is friendly and accommodating. So if you prefer to cook at home or enjoy professionally cooked seafood delights you can count on Fred's team to make it good and fresh. No Im not being paid for this review.😁 If I had a negative it would be that they would do well to offer "web" based notifications of new shipments of seasonal products, special offers and new products. I suspect that this will come as Fred has expanded consistently of the years....
