Grindstone tap house has been on my list of places to check out since I first moved to Berea two years ago. For one reason or another, we had never visited. Tonight, we finally changed that. My wife likes to eat very early so we arrived around 5pm or so. Got seated and settled in and the waitress came over and took our drink order and provided some menus. Having read some reviews a couple of years back, I was excited to try several things on the menu. Ultimately, I ordered a soft pretzel appetizer and the south of the border entree as my main dish. Pretzel came out quick, was served with a Cajun mustard and a jalapeno queso cheese dipping sauce. The mustard was extremely fascinating. Blend of several flavors that hit your taste buds one after the other. It paired very well with the pretzel. The queso was also quite good, had just a bit of a kick to it but not overwhelming so. Shortly after finishing up the pretzel, our meals arrived. The south of the border dish, just a mound of tater tots, eggs, cheese, chicken, sour cream was just a sight to behold. The tater tots were seasoned and by themselves were amazing. Combine them with the other parts of the dish and you have an extremely flavorful meal. I was very impressed by it and could barely put a dent in all of the tater tots. Disappointed we took this long to try it out but will absolutely be coming back to try their pizza (which I was told by a few folks that it is wonderful) and the chicken or steak Philly sub.

Nice and quiet for lunch the day we went. Friendly service. Food presented beautifully! The grilled cheese was unique and delicious and a little extra for the loaded fries was well worth it with a large portion. My husband's burger was very good with a right off the open flame grill taste and was a very good size. The battered onion rings were great. The reuben rolls made for a great appetizer. Highly recommend this place for a tasty lunch. Just be sure to ask for the full menu if you go at lunch time and you would like to see other options that they can do as long as they aren't super busy for a special event.

Grindstone Tap House offers excellent food, which we thoroughly enjoyed during our visit. The only reason I’m docking a star is for the service. It took 10 minutes from the time we sat down to be greeted and have our drink order taken. We visited during Nationals, so I understand they weren’t used to the increased volume. However, it wasn’t extremely busy when we were there, and under no circumstances should it take 10 minutes to be greeted for the first time and have our drink order taken. Despite this, the quality of the food made up for the slow service.

ABLOSUTELY TERRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER. My boyfriend.friend and myself decide it would be enjoyable to go out for karaoke and some pool we call here and there and this place. Unknown guy picks up phone and says yes they have pool and karaoke and it starts around 10. Best to get there around 9 930 he says to me. So we get there about 10 30 . To the left they were having some kind of . "Party" children and parents and gift baskets. So we walk over to the left in which we see and open area for pool. We get closer and realize that the table is against the wall. So we go over to the bar and order drinks and then inquire about the table. We notice the karaoke dj was setting up a small area next to the open area. Still plenty of room for other activities. So the bartender man comes back and says ooh no pool because of the foundraiser. While we have been in the establishment for some time the people were slowly disipating, especially the ones with children. So I was a little irritated that they would tell me that this place had certain amenities and not mention you are having a foundraiser going on and that the normally amenities would not be available. So as time passes it's about 11 1130 and karaoke is just starting and people still slowly leaving so I ask again about the pool still no and service by the man bartender made us feel unwanted and like he had something much more important to do like walk around with scissors in his back pocket. Ha. So my friend sings his songs and like 4 people. Then he goes up for another. The dj says he is going on break. After about 10 mins of karaoke .the guy comes back and it seems the karaoke was over or they didn't want my friend singing again.which his next song was going to be smashing pumpkins. So as I was about to cash out and sign my tab I just wanted to take the manager on a professional level and discuss the poor service mind you I had 2 drinks the whole night. So he comes out I take him to the side for a quiet more appropriate approach. I told him why i was taking him aside that hes the manager im a paying customer and i just wanted to tell him about my poor service and how we were treated. Then I proceeded to tell the story . I called up here for pool and karaoke and they said yes and didn't mention that there was a foundraiser.... and he cuts me off and says well he wouldn't mention that! I asked why I didn't get a straight answer. He was very hostile and rude for being a manager he couldn't handle this situation professinally. He asked if you want the table moved we'll move it . I said no the isn't the issue any more I just want you to know as a paying customer how I feel and that I was treated poorly. He proceeded to walk away from me. He I guess was going to move the table I said hey don't walk away I didn't even finish and he inquired about the table again and I say no. He walks over to my boyfriend and friend and complains about me tells bar to cut me off lolz. My tab was petty. And proceeds to move the table. I signed my tab no tip and left. The manager is seriously rude and completely...

We came into town for the National Sports Card Convention and came in around 8:45pm. Place was packed and we had a party of 7 people. A waitress came over and told us they were slammed and she would be right back to take our drink orders. First off that waitress never came back. 15 minutes later a different waitress came by and took are drink order and left. We were all sitting there talking and after about what seemed about an half an hour we started to complain and yet another waitress came to our table and retook our drink orders. She brought them and then proceeded to take our food orders and disappeared. We waited for over and hour and never received any explanation for the delay with our food orders and never came back to refill our drink orders not to mention that we noticed other patrons who came in got their food and had finished and left! When we asked one of the waitresses what was going on with the food. She was very rude telling us that we were told that they were very busy and it was going to still be a few minutes that we were still two orders away in the queue. So again we begrudgingly waited and saw another’s party’s food come out that came in after us and thought we would definitely be next. well again that didn’t happen another party who came in got their appetizers we decided we had had enough. We called our waitress over and told her that we would pay for our drinks and go. She said okay went into the back and came back out and said our food was being prepared and it would be just another eight minutes.it was now after 1100 after the official time the restaurant was officially closed we were all exhausted and wanted to go back to our hotel to get some sleep for our next day at the convention so we declined. Again she went to the back and then came out and said the drinks were on them and apologized for the first time after the whole ordeal stating she didn’t know why others got their food before us and looked embarrassed. So as we were leaving the manager/owner who had to unlock the doors to let us out apologized and said it was a staffing issue and said he hoped that we would give them another chance to serve us if we would stop back in the rest of the week we were do to be in town. Well I personally don’t think anyone would be interested in doing that. Terrible service and overall unprofessional employees couldn’t get me back in there on principle if they were to let me dine for free. My party is from Chicago mostly and in Chicago a restaurant wouldn’t be open very long with service like this....
