Our family went there on Friday night. What a mistake! The place was busy and the servers didn't know what to do.
We ordered two orders of galbi set menu which was 35 each. Since we were 4 people we ordered a pho which was 14, way more than authentic Vietnamese place. Then the server told us that we had to order one more dish since we ordered from the set menu. His reason was that the owner does not allow it since they lose money on set menus. 35 dollars for 3 strips of LA galbi and Soondubu (soft tofu soup) with sorbet desert and they lose money on that? There are other Korean restaurants which offer real galbi, not LA strips for less than that with side dishes. Anyway, we ordered squid stir fry which was 18. 4 of us spent 130 for dinner including tip.
A few other complaints include 1) dishes are small which is unusual for Korean restaurants, 2) side dishes were dismal, 3) they asked to pay tip in cash, 4) again the price was really high comparing to other Korean restaurant in the area (in Edison and Plainfield)
One good thing about the place was their food was taste, above usual quality of most Korean places. I just wish they would give us more food and make the price cheaper.
ps. Pho was bad. They didn't even give bean sprouts and cilantro.
Would I go there again? Probably not except maybe for lunch which is 3-5 dollars cheaper...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at SEOULITE, a Korean food establishment, and I must say that my experience left a lasting impression. The standout feature of this restaurant, for me, was undoubtedly the exceptional quality of their kimchi. It is without a doubt the best kimchi I have ever had. The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced, and it had that delightful, satisfying crunch that is a hallmark of well-prepared kimchi.
But the culinary excellence at SEOULITE didn't stop with their kimchi. I also had the pleasure of trying their bibimbap, and it was simply outstanding. The dish was not only visually appealing with its colorful array of vegetables, but the taste was equally impressive. The ingredients were fresh, and the combination of flavors was harmonious.
Another highlight of my visit was the army soup, which I found to be a comforting and hearty bowl of goodness. It was well-seasoned and had that comforting warmth that only a well-crafted soup can provide.
The overall dining experience at SEOULITE was wonderful. The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It's clear that the kitchen takes great pride in the quality...
Read moreThis place could potentially be good even though the decor is Japanese with them serving Korean. Boxes of Korean instant ramen stowed away near the bathroom (I’m pretty sure it’s the same Korean ramen that they sell from the menu) and storage put in random places throughout the restaurant.
The one thing that really got to me is the owner, a woman wearing sweat pants. She asked if everything is ok, but make sure you only answer that it’s great because she really doesn’t care if it is not. We ordered Japchae for my two kids and even for me, it was too salty. We mentioned it to her when she asked, “is everything ok?,” she immediately replied without taking a breath or trying to say anything else, “no it is not, this is how we make it.” I mean, why bother asking if you really don’t care, you just made the experience that much worse! Next time, if someone said that to you, perhaps a little empathy would go a long way. I have been there twice, first time by myself and was decent enough for me to go back the second time. Second time with my family was horrid, enough for me not to ever go back. Too bad because she could have kept our business had she known how to be a little more...
