So I roll in thinking Iâm about to get a solid Italian sub fix with a name like Fat Salâs, right? But nope.
I ordered the âFamous Bronx Godfatherâ because if youâre gonna pretend to be Italian in Jersey, thatâs the kind of name you gotta back up. What showed up? A limp, greasy mess with âstore-made mozzarellaâ that tasted like it was ripped from ShopRite. The bread was borderline stale, and the sun-dried peppers were just sad little scraps.
And $26 for a sub? For that kind of cash, I expected a sandwich that could feed a small army, not something I had to eat fast before it fell apart in my hands.
I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the staff looked like theyâd rather be anywhere else. Took forever to get my order, and when I asked for extra napkins they acted like I asked for a kidney.
Bayville deserves better, not some half-baked gimmick with a ripoff name. If you want the real deal, skip this sad tribute and head north to the spots that actually know what âItalian...

The presence of my husband and I was a definite and obvious inconvenience to this man's life. I asked if their sub bread was soft and instead of giving me a normal human answer I got, "it's nyc Brooklyn style." Needless to say I ordered nothing and we walked out. God forbid I went to order the rest of my sandwich, he seemed like the type that would have had an issue with the fact I didn't want tomatoes or cheese. I miss the old Italian place, I wish they would have paid their employees because they were awesome even though they were a little slow behind the counter, their food was great and the workers...
Read moreWe visited for the first time and were disappointed overall. I ordered the lasagna, my husband had one of the sub specials, and my daughter chose the chicken Caesar salad. The lasagna lacked flavor and structureâit was just stacked sheets of pasta with a bit of sautĂ©ed spinach and ricotta in the center, then folded over, rather than layered traditionally. My husbandâs sub, which was an Italian-style sandwich with roasted red peppers, was underwhelming. The bread was the highlight of the meal. My daughter described her salad as just âokay.â Given the prices, the food didnât meet expectations, and we donât...
