I used to LOVE going to Bongo Burger on Telegraph back when I was in high school. Great burgers! However, this is obviously no longer the case.

When I first saw my burger, my heart sank--it wasn't so much a burger as it was a loaf of bread with a thin layer of meat spread on it.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this burger was 60% bread, 25% lettuce and tomato, and 15% meat. There was so little meat that it was more of a condiment on a bread and lettuce sandwich, offering a slight burger-y after taste to what tasted like a bread and lettuce sandwich.

This problem wasn't isolated to my medditeranean burger; my girlfriend's kabob wrap was also shockingly devoid of meat, causing her to question if they accidentally made her some sort of bland lettuce and onion vegetarian wrap until she got a third of the way through and finally found a small piece of meat. When she was finished, her plate was full of mounds of tortilla that she had picked off in an effort to make her kabob wrap taste more like kabob and less like the lettuce and tortilla wrap that she was served.

So sad to see what was once a great restaurant stoop so low as this. I get that the restaurant industry is hard, but cutting down on your meat servings to the point that your burgers taste more like bread than meat isn't going to be your...

This was back in 2010, and I never forget this moment. My friends and I had come in at what seemed to be closing time. We were all starving and had just taken the overnight bus back from San Francisco. The plan was to stay up and watch movies, but we didn’t have much choices on food. As we were walking up Dwight to go to our house on Benvenue, we saw that bongo Burger was open or seem to be open when we walked in the owner looked at us as if we had traveled many many miles. He was warm and welcoming, and even cracked a few jokes Not only was the food amazing for my first time ever having it, but he gave us extra fries, and we made sure that we gave him a very good tip. From that point on every football season, we made sure to get the bongo burger, breakfast special And go back and watch the games at the apartment. All I can say is that bongo Burger is a staple in college eating, and in Northern...

Quite good fast food place. Service was nice, quick and easy ordering with no line even though it was the evening. I took their Persian burger and fries to go. A word of caution here, their "burger" isn't your typical fast-food style, but a sub-style sandwich. This threw me off a bit, but it was good and didn't disappoint my burger craving. The fries aren't worth it; they are definetely frozen and are sub-par by frozen fry standards, and the portion is quite small (you would be better off buying a pack of frozen fries from somewhere for the price). Overall a good experience, and if the price were cheaper it would probably be a regularly visited favorite of mine. Instead, it's a nice sandwich shop for when you want fast food and need to satisfy that burger urge every...

Came to Berkeley to visit a friend at UCal and wanted either pizza or a burger. We obviously chose burger! The restaurant isn't really a hole in the wall but almost is at the same time. It was a tight fit during lunch but we made it work. The food was very authentic west coast burger joint burgers. They also had one side of the menu that was for all "odd" or normally "off menu" items you don't normally get in a burger joint such as hummus and wraps. They had a decent amount of vegan and vegetarian options as well. The crinkle fries reminded me a lot of home in Indiana on the farm when we made them. You definitely get a bang for your buck. The portions are fine. Not too much but not too little. I recommend visiting at least once.

How can something that looks like a Subway sandwich taste so good? I got the Persian (lamb) burger and was surprised that it didn't look like a typical burger. When I look a bite though, it didn't really matter what it looked like. I got it without the condiments and it was still full of flavor! The lamb is really tender and cooked well. My only thing was that it was a tad salty. Good thing you can only get it in a combo meal so it came with a soda which I think goes really well with burgers. I'm usually not a crinkle fries person, but the fries were really good. Overall, the whole Persian burger combo meal was really good. i would recommend.

I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I dint like Kabab and Persian meal served with fries. We had a steak sandwich. They are pretty plain, but steak was soft. The Persian plate has a nice flavor, but I was disappointed with regular salad and ranch sauce and sriracha sauce and fries. It is just not Persian meal at all. My husband said the Shish Kabab is delicious and tasty though. I appreciate the friendly staff and fast service though. Place is nice and clean which is awesome.
