I’ve stayed at the Signature Inn multiple times. I will state that the new owners have put in a great deal of effort in changing the style around. However, the details are just as important as the new concepts. The rooms aren’t large but they are doable. The cleaning staff don’t speak English, but they are extremely kind. The office staff are genuine people. The Owners, I believe are a family. However, the husband is very very flexible and a chill person. As a fellow owner and operator of two rentals, I can appreciate this service. One time during my stay, I had to stay a little past check out due to an interview. Though there was a back and forth, he was amenable to letting me extend my check out to accommodate for a last minute interview I received. His wife on the other hand was very rude and obnoxious about it.
Fast forward. I decided to book a Tuesday night to Friday night stay. I wanted a Tuesday night to Saturday night, but Saturday night was not available at the time. On Thursday night, I decided to check to see if there was availability for a Saturday night opening and luckily, there was availability! So Friday, I decided to book, however, given that I already was in a room, I thought I’d be given a good deal by asking the front desk.
But guess who greeted me? The Wife of the owner….. Now mind you, when looking to book a hotel room, google maps gives you multiple sites with different prices listings. I clearly see that there is an option to book a room with a king sized bed for 106….
Why does the Wife tell me the best she can do is 175….
Then when I challenged her and stated I could find the same booking online for cheaper, she become curt and rude as she did in our previous encounter. She then hands me off to another office employee telling him the rate would be 175 including taxes.
I proceeded with the online booking option through Priceline and was able to get the room for 120, tax included…..
I don’t know what it is or why she’s obnoxious but it’s a huge turn off. However shoutout to...
Read moreLocation is relatively close to downtown, which is how we selected this, being in town for a concert on a weekend night. A short bus ride (or 10 minute walk) will bring you there. There is parking (we left the car there) on site. The room is too small for a kingsize bed; with furniture opposite the passage is too narrow, and can't even open the cabinet for the fridge (with opposite opening door, which made it almost impossible to even use the fridge). The desk chair couldn 't be moved out so you could sit somewhere you wanted. The bathroom was small well-working order , nicely tiled, small, but without hook (apparently something came off the door). The sink with light in the mirror is modern nice thing, but one of the shelves halfs half-off the wall, which makes you feel like not touching anything on it. The building is old, and noise on a weekend night can be well, noisy. The neighbors or had a good moment;). Probably if you're far enough away from University Ave you have less of problem with traffic noise; we also heard mechanical noise, but that stopped midway through the night, so we could get some sleep. The breakfast, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, coffee, was just really more to get you started. There was an empty bowl with a 'fresh' so we could only guess what we missed; it was not attended. The good thing ? It seems like the industry standard for coffee became Keurig, even in the breakfast room, so even though we only had decaf in our room, we could stock up with real caf and make it in our room for starters. The usb near the bed didn't work; near the tv it did. Anyway, you get the picture; don't expect too much, if you need to stay for a night for reasonable price and don't mind putting up with some things, then this might be your ok choice. For us not anymore, if we...
Read moreThis inn confuses me. I see generally good reviews as of recent. Though, the white blankets were quite stained and I was generally uncomfortable with the cleanliness of the room. Everything in the room was unplugged including the telephone and microwave. I figured maybe a guest unplugged them, but then I quickly realized there is no comfortable way to plug in the microwave. You have to put the microwave at a weird angle to get it to reach the outlet. Everything is just kind of awkward, like the fact that there were no towels by the sink. There were two sets of the little shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower, though one set was half used. Due to the phone being unplugged we experienced many knocks at the door at 7:00 a.m. for a maintenance concern. For future reference I would hope the staff member would announce that they are a staff member instead of repeatedly knocking in different ways. As a group of women traveling alone we felt quite uncomfortable. Especially since the neighborhood was as it is. I try to be understanding but as a former hotel customer agent I found my experience here to be disappointing in terms of industry standards and cannot...
