Dream Fluff Donuts — Restaurant in Berkeley

tl;dr - Good as far as run of the mill donut shops go, but I'm not going to take friends from out of town to it.

I woke up with craving for donuts. Growing up in the suburbs of SoCal it was easy to find a donut shop. I realized since moving to Berkeley I hadn't seen many. After reading how people talked about Dream Fluff I assumed it must be something unique, something like Voodoo Donuts (I didn't look at the pictures beforehand) . So imagine my surprise when I walk in and it was......a donut shop. Like the ones I've seen a million times before.

I grabbed a chocolate bar and a glazed french cruller. The store might be like any other donut shop I've been to but the donuts were not. I'm used to really light donuts with a crispy, greasy outside but relatively little on the inside. These donuts were much denser and while still greasy they didn't have that cheap fried food crispiness to them. Typically I could eat 3-4 chocolate bars before feeling regret (but still happy) about my decision to eat junk food at 8am. After eating the chocolate bar I had hit that happy regret. 4.Sugar-coated choux-like pastry (similar to a Berliner): Slightly richer, dusted generously and melt-in-your-mouth soft.

5.Streusel-topped “bismarck” 🍩: Buttery crumb topping adds nice texture to a pillowy base.

6.Another glazed circle🥯: That classic, glazed sweetness rounds out the mix beautifully

Dream Fluff Donuts I was walking by and noticed Dream Fluff Donuts. I am not crazy about donuts, but I am always looking for a place that carries a good chocolate covered old fashion. So, I went in and they had what I was looking for, and it was after lunch – a lot of places don’t have chocolate covered old fashions in the afternoon. It was great!

Besides chocolate covered old fashions, there is a large variety of glazed donuts, frosted donuts, and donut holes. I hear their apple fritters are popular.

If you’re thirsty, they have a refrigerated case with water, fruit juices (including apple juice), vitamin water, bottled Frappuccino, and more. They also have containers of coffee ready to consume. They also make breakfast sandwiches.
