Homemade Cafe’s corned beef hash and two over easy eggs with bacon side of toast, accompanied by a hot cup of Earl Grey tea, was nothing short of a morning revelation. The corned beef was tender and seasoned just right, while the potatoes added a satisfying, comforting element to the dish. The crispness of the diced onions provided a welcome contrast, and the carefully chosen blend of spices gave it a warmth that resonated through each bite. Pair that with two over easy eggs cooked to perfection—whites gently set and yolks luxuriously runny, creating a rich, velvety sauce that enveloped the hash. Adding the final touch to this dining experience was the Earl Grey tea. Served hot, with its unmistakable bergamot aroma wafting through the air, it provided a delightful balance to the hearty meal. The robust yet subtly citrusy flavor profile of the tea cut through the richness of the dish, cleansing the palate and leaving a refreshing aftertaste. Great service as well :)

A welcoming and friendly restaurant serving up the fluffiest pancakes and some of the best brunch options in town. At Homemade Cafe, everyone is welcome. From the fliers and flowers up front to the diverse staff, the restaurant has an inclusive and positive feel. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, and the staff are friendly. The wait out front was well worth the food inside. The food really gives the place its namesake. From strawberry crumb muffins to home fries, everything really does taste homemade with love and care. The menu offers a variety of pancakes, eggs, and daily specials, including pastries and goodies. For brunch, we had the crumb muffin, blueberry-apricot pancake, and the Portuguese egg scramble. The blueberry pancakes we had were some of the fluffiest and tastiest pancakes we've ever had. They are not to be passed up. The home fries were crispy, savory, and well-seasoned. Everything was absolutely delicious and at a moderate price!

The food is good besides a few things on the menu. I ordered hot chocolate and the 2 egg combo. The hot chocolate wasn't great, I'm not sure why it tasted like that. I'm mostly upset with the house fry. I made it clear that I can't eat pork. I asked for hashbrowns but was informed that they don't have hashbrowns but they do have their housefry. They didn't inform me that it had bacon in it. Didnt realize until almost halfway through when my carmelized onion turned out to be chewy. That was quite upsetting, and I ended up having an allergic reaction. But for those who can eat pork, the house fry was good. Their portion sizes are big but it's not exactly cheap either, so it makes sense. Parking is near impossible but you can't exactly blame them for it. I wouldnt recommend if your diet has restrictions. Also, idk if they share that bathroom or what, but it is not clean.

Finally had time to try this place. Ordered pancakes, bacon& eggs. I was told order would be ready 20 to 25 minutes. I went in to pickup order and was told about 10 more minutes. The cashier said I could pay now and she would call out to me when order is ready. After 10 minutes or so, husband went back to get my order, the cashier was walking to meet him, we drove home. When I got home and opened the box I could not believe my eyes, two pancakes, one was burned as black as the bag that they put my order in. We drove right back to the restaurant. I went in and complained (different cashier at front) that we had waited 45 minutes for this unacceptable meal and I let the cashier know I wanted a refund. I opened the box to show him how the burned pancake was placed on the bottom( did they think I would not notice) The cashier said he could see why I was upset. Also I asked him if syrup & butter come with the pancakes. .He said yes. I did not have with my order., . He was trying to refund to my account but could not give me a receipt. The receipt that he printed looked like he debited my account again. I told him I have waited long enough that he should give me cash, which he did. What a Horrible experience. I will not try this place again. I will be sure to check my bank account to make sure I didn’t pay twice....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Homemade Cafe, and I am absolutely delighted by their exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and attended to throughout my visit.

Not only is their service outstanding, but the taste and quality of their food are consistently remarkable. Every dish I've tried has been a burst of flavors, cooked to perfection each time. It's rare to find such consistency in taste and presentation.

The patio area at Homemade Cafe adds a charming touch to the overall ambiance. It beautifully represents the comfort and freedom that Berkeley is known for. Dining there felt like a true reflection of the spirit of our wonderful town.

I must also acknowledge the owner, Colin, for his remarkable contributions. His dedication to helping those in need and his unwavering support for diversity both within his business and the community at large are truly commendable. It's heartwarming to see a business that goes beyond just serving food and becomes an integral part of the community it serves.

In conclusion, Homemade Cafe has won my heart with its wonderful service, delicious food, inviting patio, and the values it upholds. A true gem in Berkeley, thanks to Colin and his team for creating a place that truly embodies the essence of our...

I desperately want to support Homemade. But either they're incapable or they actively hate me.

Before they shut down, I had several bad experiences, but, kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I'm done. The food is good, but the service is awful.

We went back, thinking that the new ownership had fixed things. Unfortunately, management is the problem.

We ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food. None of the workers checked in on us. And when I went up to get some more coffee, I got glared at by the the owner/manager until I went back to my table. After finally getting our food, we saw they messed up our order: how do you forget the gravy on an order of biscuits and gravy?

And after seeing several other tables flounder, waiting to get their check to leave, I went up to the counter. The worker there was punching in an order and asked me to wait. I happily complied. She finished punching in her order and left. Leaving me standing there for another 5 minutes until someone else came by to check me out. When we left, my partner and I left laughing because of how horrible the experience was.

All of this to say, don't go to Homemade. If you want great food and great service, go around the corner. Tanzie's is so...
