Missouri Lounge & Cafe — Restaurant in Berkeley

PLEASE READ!! This place is not too friendly if you're black!!!. I've seen the difference in the way they treat customers Whites compared to blacks. Is sad because it always hasn't been this way. But now it's so blatant you can see it in the majority of the bartender's eyes. The drinks are cheap that's the best part about the place. I had a birthday yesterday which was March 18th I turned 46 years old. I was ID and had to remove my hat so that he can tell if it was me or not. All my friends are over 40 years old and where ID. One of my friends hadn't gotten his new license sent to him but he had his old one which was expired 2 months expired and they refused to let him in. I have been going there for 4 or 5 years and used to bring all my friend and brag about the place. Since I couldn't get in all ten of us left. We went to Kip's and had a great time. The owner name is Ali and is of an non European background and you would think that this place would be more ethnic conscious unless you want the redneck image. What a lot of the bartenders do is serve and talk to a lot of the white customers which you should do any customers. But with most of the bartenders there, they serve black customers and continue on doing what their doing. I have always loved this local bar. BUT. I had never been so disrespected by a bartender in my life before last night. As someone who works in the service industry, your bartender Norah should not work there. All other staff from Matt to Jason to sarah are AMAZING. I was coherent and kind to Norah. After ordering drinks, I pleasantly asked her her name. She would not give me her name and was rude to me in front of customers. I found out her name from my partner who knows the majority of the people who work there. It set a very bad tone to the evening and I left sad and angry because I had zero disrespect towards her. I tried shaking her hand when I left, and she would not. I will not be returning until this is rectified. I will speak to the owner Ali. As a native to Berkeley, In addition to working with the top promotional company in the bay area, my opinion matters. Owners won't see many reviews from me with this rating. Missouri is right in front of our families second home in Berkeley whish we visit on a regular basis. One of our first Saturdays we arrived, we visited Misouri Lounge. Things were fine. We got ourselves a drink but were very surprised when literally 3 minutes after paying 30 dollars for a round of drinks, the music was turned off and we were ordered to leave immidiaty... but without our drink. Being short on money and having invited others we were very unhappily surprised. We could have been told by the bartender... or by the security coming in. Being forced out in such a rude an unhospitable way was just a reminder of the unwelcoming immigration officers we met at the airport with the bartenders (SUPPOSING LYD SERVICE) being involved.
