Probably one of the best hotels I ever stayed at!
I find it fascinating that hotel owners don't seem to understand what constitutes a pleasant stay for a traveler. I'm happy that Aiden understood this very well.
First, some context: I was booked by my company at DoubleTree by Hilton, in the Berkeley Marina. According to them, because it was a "Hilton", I'd be good.
That hotel was disgusting! The moment I got into my room I immediately started refreshing booking.com for Aiden but they were unfortunately full. I slept with my clothes on for 2 days until I was able to check in on this hotel.
The staff is awesome. Young team that always greets you with a smile and makes everything easy. The hotel itself is PERFECT. Super clean (for me, the most important thing in a room), location is perfect (near 7 Eleven, Starbucks, North Berkeley BART station, etc). The room was spacious, had good Internet, good TV, super comfortable bed with CLEAN sheets, etc.
The vending machine in the second floor was a good addition with AFFORDABLE snacks and drinks.
Everything in the room was new with little to no signs of wear.
Overall, I don't have a single negative thing to say about this hotel. It doesn't do a lot (doesn't have to). There's no excessive breakfasts or amenities. It does what it's supposed to do in the best way possible.
Not only have I recommend the HR department to start using this hotel going forward, this will continue being my goto place every time I'm in Berkeley.
To the management: please continue doing an amazing job. Continue with hygiene as the top priority and the rooms tidied up. With continuous maintenance you'll have years of 5 star reviews!
Hope I get to...
Read moreI never write reviews unless my experience is exemplary. I ALWAYS stay in 5-star hotels, but there are none in Berkeley. I am in town for two moving my daughter back to school and wanted to be close to campus.
Not only was my room surprisingly new in construction, it was absolutely spotless! Even the remote control, which even in the finest hotels, is often overlooked and are almost always unclean and sticky. It’s quite disgusting to imagine what previous guests might be doing while using a remote in a hotel…. So I’ll leave that to one’s imagination.
What compelled me to write this review at 11:45PM after an exhausting day, is that the guest above me was making a great deal of tactile noise for some reason. I called the front desk and they immediately put the manager on the phone. I expressed my frustration and within five minutes he had personally dealt with the problem.
The front desk staff during my two days were nothing but cheerful and cordial and even turned me on to the best pizza in town.
This has been a wonderfully refreshing experience for a fraction of the price I typically spend on a hotel. Amenities are excellent and in a fantastic location for access to restaurants, gas and convenience stores.
Kudos to the manager for his professionalism and his hiring skills for the team he has assembled.
I will most definitely stay here again when I visit my daughter and will highly recommend it to my friends and colleagues:
Well done...
Read moreIncredible service from management and staff from all areas of the establishment. This is a new accommodation and feels as such (no musty moldy buildup). There are two bikes for patrons to access the area and easy to follow area maps available at the front desk. The rooms are clean and narrow. The width of the room is no problem, there is plenty of additional lounge space on the rooftop complete with house Corn Hole set, bathroom facility and TRX training area. Not to mention plug in areas if you need to charge your devices (bring your chargers!). We were the only ones there and the attentive staffer was putting cushions on the loungers and we insisted he not (we don't want our pictures to give management ANY doubt that employees weren't superb; everyone was attentive and accommodating). The lobby also has a couple of comfortable lounge areas. One for sitting and one has tables with high bar chairs for the complimentary glass if wine/beer for those of age and interested in the Happy Hour. The windows in the rooms open a little for fresh outdoor air if you're inclined. Central heat/air as well. Our group of 6 were pleasantly surprised and excited about our stay here. We've already recommended it to friends and will be back for certain. Thank you for the lovely...
