The other day I was craving a meatball sandwich, but not just any ol’ meatball sandwich.... I wanted a DELICIOUS meatball sandwich, like the kind I make at home, except I didn’t feel like spending hours making one myself.
I already know from experience that Wawa and Subway’s meatball sandwiches are subpar, so I decided to scour the internet to find restaurants and reviews to help with my search.
Eventually I found myself on Jersey Joes google page. I scrolled past a couple of the top reviews and low and behold, a 5-Star review with the customer claiming that Jersey Joes had “the best meatball sandwich that the customer had ever eaten in their life!”
So obviously I was excited to place my order with Jersey Joes. I mean the bar was set pretty high at this point and I was super eager to eat a great meatball sandwich!!
Boy was I wrong to get my hopes up. I shouldn’t have listened to that customer review. I bet the customer wasn’t even Italian. Poor guy probably doesn’t even know what a real meatball is supposed to taste like.
Anyway my point is, that meatball sandwich was a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I swear to god I couldn’t taste one single spice... It honestly tasted like all they did was roll ground beef into balls, then cook them straight like that. That’s it. Just like a hamburger patty, only in the shape of a sphere. Not only were they as bland as a piece of paper, but the meatballs were also very mushy. It had the same soft texture and consistency as Taco Bell meat. The second I bit into it it was like I was eating meat pudding.
I ate three bites then gave it to my dog.
At least she liked it.
The food deserves 1-Star but I gave this review 2-Stars because the employee who helped me was nice and I believe at least some credit is due when a place has decent customer service or something else positive going for them.
..... But the food was still very, very unpleasant in my experience. I won’t be going back...
Read moreAfter driving from NC to NJ to have my favorite hoagie from Northfield Deli, we discovered the heartbreaking reality that they were out of business. This left us with a predicament- go back home or find a new favorite dive. Of course we made the obvious choice! We visited White House Subs due to their famous past- huge let down! Back to the drawing board, I read lots of reviews & decided to drive an hour to give Jersey Joe’s a try. Absolutely worth every mile traveled! For starters, the owner, Joe, cut up with me from the get go. From there he made both me & my husband feel like family- sharing about his, genuinely interested in our story & where we were from. We talked, laughed, & cut up the entire time our food was being prepared. However, during that time several other customers came in & I noted how he knew each of them by name- it reminded me of the old tv show Cheers where they yelled “Norm!” That speaks volumes about Joe & the quality of the food, as clearly they were all regulars. I ordered the Italian & my husband had the Philly Cheese. Let’s just say that Joe was extremely generous with more than just the quantity of food. We were overwhelmed & humbled by his kindness. The place was very clean & well kept & there are plenty of signs that lets you know in advance that it’s cash only, which just isn’t a big deal people. Now, I would note that there’s no inside seating. However, there is a nice park only two minutes away. We went there & enjoyed our meal. The portions you get are insane. See the pics from the side that shows the depth of meat. The veggies were fresh, bread was fresh, & meat in abundance. From meeting Joe to thoroughly enjoying the food, needless to say I’ve found my new...
Read moreOwner is harsh and brash . 9$ +tax for a spicy italian hoagie the only thing that makes it spicy is they substitute a very thin slice of sharp provolone (mine were just a bunch of broken uneven pieces) for the regular cheese nothing extra, a very small sprinkle of chopped onions. oil ? maybe only a few drops couldn't taste any. And no credit cards either, you don't find that out until after you go to pay. So now you have to go to a mac machine which he "conveniently" has crammed right in their next to the register, and forget about condiments they cost 2$ extra. How about pepper or italian seasoning you- have to ask. I Give you credit for one thing, you are using a seeded roll . Be more respectful, say thank you for your business and don't be so cheep with...
