My husband and I were actually heading somewhere else, but ended up at Brother's Burgers for a late lunch. This small cozy burger joint is tucked away in Berry Hill, and worth checking out. I had the Uncle Sam burger (aka a traditional burger) and husband had a delightful black and Bleu burger. Both of these came with generous servings of seasoned, hand cut fries. We enjoyed our meals; the burgers were flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked for both of us. On my burger, the tomato was juicy, lettuce and pickles were crisp, and the bun was soft. In other words, a great burger. I ordered a strawberry limeade from the cocktail menu, which is a mojito style drink with strawberry simple syrup. It was light, refreshing, and the alcohol was not overpowering. Husband had a peanut butter milk stout that he said was delicious. There is a sizeable selection of beers and whiskey, as well as a nice cocktail menu.
The food menu is a simple one page selection of several burgers, po' boys, standard Cajun fare, and basic appetizers. Everything sounded delicious and plates I saw at other tables looked great.
Our service was friendly, prompt, and efficient.
It's small; I counted 12 inside tables plus bar seats, and about 15 patio tables. The parking lot is small and awkward, but that's the norm for that area, so we didn't expect anything different. Inside, the restaurant has high ceilings and large windows, along with mismatched tables and chairs. The tables are charmingly decoupaged with vintage photos. Everything appeared clean and peeping into the kitchen showed a neat tidy area with clean surfaces. The music level was nice and a table tent advertised live music on Thursdays, with an invitation for musicians to bring instruments for a jam session, which sounds like fun. We look forward to going back and trying the po'boys and gumbo, as well as more options from the beer and...
Read moreGeneric but good; that's the easiest way to sum this place up. There's a million other places like this one, but it does a good job at what it sets out to do. As the name suggests, the burgers are probably the best thing on the menu. I had the jump back jack burger and it was really quite good although I think it would benefit greatly from adding some lettuce to give it a little crunch in every bite because it was very mushy. My wife had a shrimp po boy and had nothing bad to say about it, but said it was just a bout the same as every other one she's had. When I tried it, it seemed like they breading on the shrimp may have been a little better seasoned than some others I've had, and overall it was a good sandwich. The fries looked well seasoned and we're cooked well, but we're bland; I regret not asking if they had Lawry's seasoned salt. The jambalaya was the low point of the meal. Neither of us have had all that much jambalaya before but this wasn't really as expected and seemed pretty under seasoned for a Cajun dish. That said, the fries and Jambalaya weren't bad, they just weren't impressive; they just kind of existed as part of the meal. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area and want a burger or po boy, but I don't think it's worth going out of...
Read moreJumpback Jack with fries. Burger was a massive disappointment. Candied bacon barely had a taste. Pepperjack flavor was lost in the onions and cumin aioli. The meat was a smash patty style, one side was chewy and the other not, lacking in flavor besides the burnt bits that tasted of dirty grill. The jalapenos literally tasted like bell pepper, zero spice. I feel like there was no quality control. A second opinion was put off by the strength of the cumin aioli, I may have just adjusted to it, or didnt mind. Overall the flavor kinda mud-balled into a single note. The overall size of the burger was a little light, 1/3 lb for a $15 burger is a bit stingy, but not misrepresented. The fries were nothing special.
Beyond that order, apparently this store has a very limited menu (and no physical menus.. but cloth napkins?? Odd), apparently owing to the fact that they don't have room for a microwave.. no cheese fries or wings. This wasn't obvious when I looked them up, as the cheese fries were what got my attention.
Overall, an intensely overpriced and underwhelming experience. I'm a harsh reviewer, and high ratings get more scrutiny for hype. Adjusted google stars should be about 3.5. Adjusted meal price should be...
