TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT & CUSTOMER SERVICE After leaving two messages for the Owner of Baja, Troy, and NEVER getting a return phone call, I decided to take the time to write this review and share our recent, and LAST, experience at this dive. Wife and I went to Baja Burrito for the first time on 9/16. We arrived at 8:05pm and there were 3 people in line. We ordered and sat at a table in the middle of the dining room at 8:15. Within 5 minutes, one of the girls behind the counter came out like a tornado where we were sitting and began grabbing chairs from tables all around us, next to us, pushing them around on the floor and stacking them up next to us WHILE WE WERE EATING!!! Next, she grabbed the Windex bottle and started spraying the tables where we were eating, and this is when I got up to get a Manager. I told the so-called Manager "Orlando" what was happening and his reply was "we close in 45 minutes and have to start cleaning now!" Really??? Why paying customers are trying to eat? She could have been told to clean in the back of the restaurant, where no one was sitting, but NO, not the case. Never mind you are sitting in plastic patio chairs at an unbalanced table. Even the BEST BURRITO on Earth could not make this environment enjoyable. The Manager did absolutely NOTHING to make the situation any better where we could finish our meal. Orlando was rude, unapologetic, and was very defensive when I asked for the Owner's information. Obviously, customer service here means NOTHING. We decided to forget the experience and left our food on the table and walked out. Anyone else notice the satanic and demonic-looking prints on the walls and cups? The WORST restaurant and customer service experience in my 3 years...
Read moreSo this is a Nashville local hole in the wall that everyone should go to at least once if visiting and more if you live here. The food is simply amazing. The combinations possibly for the types of dishes are large but fairly simple at the same time. Pick your shell (or salad), your meat (or not meat which includes locally made vegan options), your beans, your rice, your veggies, and your toppings and that's it! Simple food but flavors that are simply amazing!
The salsa is made in house (this visit there was 4 flavors to choose from), as are all the seasoned meats, beans, rice, etc. The only thing I'd ding them for is they do get locally made shells for things rather then make then in house. Which give the flavors more of the cali-mex feel the true Mexican. But since the place is Baja burritos, I think it works.
So while the food is amazing, the parking is the worst. There's maybe ten spots for the entire restaurant? It's tiny, goes against traffic, limited handicapped parking (though the building is accessible), etc. And because the food is so good, the lines can get long. Particularly during dinner and lunch rushes. Or summer time. But the food is worth it and the service is fast. They can keep a line moving, you just may not have a place to go after you get your food.
Tl:Dr Great food, local food, fast service, horrible parking and location. Best to get the food to go or eat it outside in the patios if you can. But do certainly get something from here while...
Read moreAs someone born in Nashville, each trip I take to Baja Burrito when I visit my hometown is a like a warm hug from an old friend. I miss the Nashville I grew up in and Baja Burrito is one of the last places from my teenhood remaining.
Onto the food: It's a better option than Chipotle or Moe's, in my opinion. Because it's not corporately owned, the atmosphere is of a well-loved hometown restaurant, because that's what it is. There's handwritten signs for the main menu and special items. Seating can be separate or communal, depending on how the tables inside are arranged that day. The patio seating is plentiful and features a cute cactus garden as well as table umbrellas.
Because I'm autistic, I always get the same thing every time I come: a regular burrito with chicken tinga and my fixings. I think guacamole is extra, but I wouldn't know because I never get it. There's a lot of options for things to add to burritos and salads. I always make sure to get their picó.
There's also a salsa bar for their fresh, house-made tortilla chips. I love those chips, crispy...
