Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Berryville

Because it is somewhat close to us, we wanted this to be good. Unfortunately, the whole experience was bad. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered. When giving our order, which included chicken, we were informed that they did not have chicken. We were told that we could substitute any meat for no extra charge. My wife changed her order to Drunken Noodles, which she said was pretty good. I did not receive my food. While my wife was eating, two separate people came in for pick up orders. We heard the conversation between the hostess and the kitchen and they did not have there food. Both of the orders were fulfilled before my food came, which was about another 10-12 minutes later. During that time I was told they were making it now. When my food did come, it was not spiced the way I had asked or anything close to it. The actual overl taste of the "Spicey Basil" was mediocre at best and actually seemed watered down. My wife's food was spicier. The check never came. Instead the waitress came to the table and told us an amount and also informed us that they had charged us extra opting for shrimp when they did not have chicken. The bill itself was about $10-$12 more than it was supposed to be. When I mentioned the fact that we were not supposed to be charged for the substituted meat, she said she would give it to me out of her pocket. We did not receive an itemized bill. The Thai tea was good and my wife's Drunken Noodles was pretty good, but with everything else, in no case will we be back. Maybe this is an isolated incident, but Buyer Beware...definitely not worth $51 for two lunch portions, two Thai teas and a small Tom Kha soup. After so many recommendations my husband and I stopped in this week. I debated on making this review but here we are. There were some high take aways and some low. We walked in at the same time as a 1 top and the server immediately got her drink and order. She told us to sit where we wanted and we proceeded to a table and ended up getting the chair hair for our baby. We looked over the menu for awhile (prob 10 mins) and the server still hadn’t come up to us. I looked around, didn’t see her. Then she came out of the bathroom which is only 20 feet or so away. As a server myself I thought it was so strange she would take a bathroom break before greeting us. Nonetheless she took our order and then I went to the bathroom. When I went to wash my hands there was no soap!! (How was she able to wash her hands!) She was bringing our drinks over when I walked back to my table and I quietly and politely let her know the soap was out. She went Into the bathroom came back to me and said “oh you just weren’t pushing hard enough”. That’s wild because I worked that dispenser hard so I said “oh ok can you show me up to get it to work?”. We both go into the bathroom and of course we couldn’t get any soap out. I didn’t appreciate that she didn’t wash her hands then she tried to act like I was stupid. We decided to stay because she wasn’t the one making our food. Wonderful as Always.. I Have Personally known the Owners for well over 7yrs, even worked with them before. I am how ever Reviewing the Food not the owners in Specifically. My Vote wouldn't be valid due to being good friends with them both. I Have always loved Thai Food ever since i first had my very first Try at Pad Thai. From there i ventured out to all different type of Delicious Flavors. Today i had the Krapaw Gai Sub and my wife had a Pad Prik Sod. Both where delicious as always. Id love to one day learn how to make at least one of there delicious Dishes. To any one in the Berryville Area i absolutley recomend this Great, Delicious and Reasonable price Food.
