Used to go here consistently. Best cheesesteaks around. Hadn’t been there for a while. Went back today. Cheese steaks are completely different. What a step backwards. They were below average. Then I find out there’s new owners. Mystery solved. Why would they not keep using the same formula as before? Are they crazy? But I’m sure they don’t care. They’ll still be busy throughout the school year because of all the college students going there not knowing any better. So much for “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” What a shame. Can’t go there anymore now.
And this doesn’t even include them screwing up the order, even though the order was repeated four times. I specified my order so many times that I felt like an idiot, repeating myself. And they still screwed it up. What is so hard about writing the order down correctly, and then actually reading it before you prepare it? Then what happens? Food gets sent back, gets thrown out, wasted food. Unnecessary expense.
Will someone please bring back the old...
Read moreSo I was told so many times that this spot is THE spot to grab a cheesesteak. Naturally I had to make my way in and give it a shot. I loved the old time feel of the place and the old school style menu's and everything...this is usually a sign of really solid food to come. Unfortunately those two didn't equate here. Not bad, not what everyone said it was going to be.
Honestly this just ended up being similar to a pizza shop cheesesteak. The meat was alright but pretty dry, definitely could have used more cheese. The rolls were okay...reminded me of frozen amoroso rolls you get from a broadliner like US Foods. I think people partially love these because they're quite large and partially due to nostalgia from it being a spot they've eaten their whole lives.
Certainly wouldn't say it sucked, but it was only okay. I may give them another shot sometime, but it was slow the day I went and plenty of people working so I can't imagine a scenario where I go back and get one so...

Both of which were solid. The cheesesteak was definitely the star. I would recommend getting the "special sauce" on the side however. It was a dead ringer for campbells tomato soup and that wouldn't have been welcome on my cheesesteak hoagie. Glad they offered it in a side cup! Great selection of drinks on deck. I was elated to see the rows of yoo-hoo and grabbed the first can I've likely had since hitting the deli with my dad as a kid. Staff was friendly on the phone and in person however were carrying on personal conversations during the transaction which irks me as someone who has previously worked as a cashier in various environments. Will definitely be back for another cheesesteak and to try other items....
