Great dogs, great smash burgers. Especially the dogs. There's a famous Coney Island in Worcester where I grew up that has incredible dogs, and the perfect 40's-50's diner vibe, which is the only reason I'm giving a 3 for Atmosphere here. The Salty Seagull is the closest I've ever had to their dogs, and The Seagull also has a lot more and better variety, specials, and more interesting flavors. You don't go to a hot dog stand for ambiance, so who cares, I'm only noting that to be honest, in order to validate that I'm very much being honest about their delicious food. After discovering The Seagull a few weeks ago, I've been several times, had them cater an event for my company, and find myself thinking about these dogs at random times throughout the day. They're just excellent. The catering was amazing- they were awesome to work with planning it out, put together what was basically a make-your-own dogs and smash burgers buffet for us, which was excellent even the next day, the whole team loved, and it was really reasonably priced. This is one of my new favorite local North Shore spots.
Atmosphere wise, it's a hot dog stand in a parking lot- which has potential, but when I'm there at least it's just busy traffic at a main intersection. They could add some exterior tunes or old-school intercom kiosks in the parking spots or something to boost the atmosphere, but ultimately that's not why you go to a hot dog stand. Go over to The Salty Seagull and get some...
Read moreI've been wanting a quick and easy smash burger place for a while so I was excited to see the Salty Seagull open up. I tried them for my first time with my fiancée and we both enjoyed. The food was ready quickly and already bagged 5 min before pickup time, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your arrival time.
The burgers were tasty, a little well done for me but thats smash. The garlic bun was a nice touch and would definitely get it again. Unfortunately I was missing a topping on mine and only had two pickles. Not major, but seeing about 6 people inside and seemingly being the only pick up order, I would think it'd be noticed. All in all, a good and flavorful burger, especially for the money.
The last thing, that kept me from a 5-star review, was the fries. They seemed thicker than pictured on the website, not the shoestring style I was expecting, and they we're extremely soggy. They we're hot, so not a sitting around issue, but just severely underdone. For the $4 I can't be too upset, but definitely disappointing.
I plan to return a few more times to give them another shot. It's a new small business and these things don't come together right away, so hopefully we see positive improvements....
Read moreOnce upon a time, I went to Cragie on Main's Bar for their burger, and I found the love of my life. Supposedly, the owner was an idiot and now that place is never coming back.
I've been to White Hut, Boston Burger Company, hell, even Tasty Burger, to try my chance at love again. But to no avail.
That is, until I met The Salty Seagull's Big Mick smash burger. When I ordered the quad, it was hand-delivered to my car and promptly blew me away while I ignored the unidentified drones flying overhead.
Sure, the quad may have been a foolish call, as the patties are still a good 1/4 lbs after cooking, but I left not a single bite. Their burger sauce is better than my own. The lettuce, onion, and pickles gave it a crunch that would have Nestlé filing for trademark infringement. The cheese was perfectly melted between the patties, yeilding that consistency you desire from your own personal cheese fondue fountain tucked away under your great grandmother's fur coats in the basement. You'd do right to get the grilled garlic bun. Dress a woman in only the finest garments. Your great grandfather knew that.
Im not going to order another burger from anywhere, anytime...
