We stopped here one time before on our way up to Colorado and decided to stop in on our way back home. Down home cooking, delicious smoky chopped BBQ, and their fried catfish is cooked when ordered. Lightly battered and fried, it is my favorite here. Love their coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce, too! Husband ordered a chopped BBQ sandwich which was sweet and smoky with hand cut French fries, all very tasty. Then the final delight is their homemade ice cream. Tastes like the snow cream my mother made when l was a child many, many years ago, brought back a lovely memory for me. Be advised that they are closed on Monday. This is a gem of a place for me. Hope you'll like it too!

Just happened to be in big springs and looking for dinner brought us to Al’s and Son bbq. What a nice surprise. Friendly people make you feel at home and guide you through cafeteria style of getting some good Texas smoked meats. The brisket was perfectly done with just the right amount of smoke. Home style sides are tasty like they are done in your own kitchen. If you find your travels along I-20 in big springs find Al’s and son Bar-B-Q.

It was ok. Not a fan of $50 dollars for 2 people to be just ok. Mac and cheese was soupy, macaroni salad was great, potato salad was mushy, and the pickle and mustard was too strong and overpowering. The brisket was a 7 out of 10. Ribs were a 9 out of 10. Unfortunately the free Dos Equis was out but they did serve complementary homemade ice cream. Will probably skip next time.

33 dolars for a large combo and a large un sweet tea. There was not an adequate amount of beef on the plate by any ones standards. That's pretty pathetic. Response to your reply is, Maybe you should just go out of business then. If you can't make a profit without short changing people. The only other place I know of that is as high as yours are those lunatics at KDs BBQ. YOU ARE NOT PUTTING ENOUGH PRODUCT ON YOUR PLATE, PERIOD. YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THE OVER ALL MAJORITY OF THE REVIEWS YOU HAVE RECEIVED. IT SEAMS AS THO THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO FEEL THE SAME WAY. THERE IS NO POINT IN MY COMING BACK . I'm not spending 40 dollars on BBQ just for myself!!!! I think most likely you must be lying anyway. Your probably making a large enough profit. You just need more money for more tattoos. AND DONT EVER TELL ME WHAT TO DO.!!!!! AND THIS AINT NO MAJOR...

Stopped in at 7pm on a Friday. Only 2 other tables occupied should've been a clue. I asked for the crusty crispy part of the brisket. The lady that dished my plate just looked at me like 'really '? She then proceeded to slice that part off the cut and I thought, 'Great! She's gonna give me the whole slice!' Then she promptly slid it into the garbage can. I was dumbfounded. At that point I should've walked out and hit the KFC across the street. But you know how sometimes people do such outrageous things you don't know how to react? Yeah. And the sides were bland and watery soggy as well. At least there wasn't any white bread on the plate. And Matt? You can dispense with the apologies. Looking back at other reviewers who've mentioned similar experiences, it appears nothing has changed. Especially the school cafeteria...

Awful place. I ordered the catfish and a peach cobbler for dessert. the fish was tiny, overcooked and expensive, the cobbler was by far the worst I have ever had, gelatinous, cold and disgusting.

I ate the fish being in a hurry and not wanting to cause issues, but took a single bite of the cobbler and sent it back. Their solution was to microwave it, not remove it from my ticket or offer an alternative dessert. Had I eaten the whole serving and complained, fine, but I didn't.

I will never go back to this place.

On a positive note because I try, my girlfriend did have BBQ and the BBQ itself was decent. Nothing to write home about but not so bad compared to the fish, and our waitress was nice. I also like the older style look and feel of the place. And one time I saw their sign offering 14 an hour, which I...
