City Brew Coffee — Restaurant in Billings

I've never had a bad experience at city brew, but I wanted to give a specific shout out to whoever was working the drive thru around 12pm today. I was frazzled and upset because I was on my way to the walk-in clinic to have my toddler looked at - he had split his chin on playground equipment and would likely need stitches because his chin wouldn't stop bleeding. This was his first big injury and he's 3 years old. Whoever gave me my coffee at the drive thru was very friendly, kind, and it sounds ridiculous but that simple kindness is one of the highlights of my day as I reflect on today. City Brew has gone way downhill. I was a loyal customer since they started in 1998. Now they’ve lost everything that made them unique. The new scone product is an abysmal, cakey bland excuse for what was a great scone for 25 years. Their coffee blends are now identified as “light” or “medium” roast… no longer the identifying names of “Zimzilla”, “Backroads”, etc. and the cup of coffee itself this morning was terrible. The cashier who “greeted” us wouldn’t even make eye contact. You have managed to ruin the entire culture of your company. Goodbye City Brew. It was nice knowing you. You’ve successfully changed your identity to another tasteless Starbucks wannabe. So sad...

Employees were super! Great experience in that department. Tried an iced latte and the everything bagel sandwich. Sandwich was good. Loved the Gouda on it. I'm a bit of a coffee snob so I'm very critical on coffee and since this is a coffee shop, that's the only thing that matters. The espresso isn't the worst I've had. It's definitely better than Starbucks. It is still a bit bitter though. Not the best I've ever had but not the worst either. Not sure if they grind in house or not. If so, definitely should use a coarser grind and it would fix that issue. Otherwise, pretty decent coffee. I'd go back in a pinch but it didn't make me a life long customer...
