My dad and I dined in and I really hate to even leave two stars after the poor service we received. Dad finished his workout class around 8, so we met for dinner at 8:15pm. Unfortunately, we had horrible service from the moment we walked in. The (from what I could gather) manager, was quick to greet us, but first and foremost stating that the last call was in 15 mins and that they closed at 9pm. Understandably, my dad acknowledged her statement and asked if we could sit at the bar and order food. The same manager proceeded to repeat herself stating that last call was in 15 mins and that they’d be closing at 9pm. My dad and I quickly ordered food and one drink a piece. The bartender did her job, taking our order without complaint. We received our food and drinks and instantly the manager appeared beside us, tapping her fingers along the bar counter. Instantly my dad and I felt pressured to hurry up and finish our meals. (Side note, another couple walked in about 15 til 9 and they were turned away). We decided the polite thing to do, was to ask for to go boxes. The manager walked away without acknowledging what we asked, and brought us out to go boxes, basically rushing us out. At this point it was only 8:50pm and their sign/online hours state they close at 9pm. My dad and I packed up our left overs, my dad tipped a hefty tip, and we headed out. As we were leaving he noted to the manager that he left a tip that was over 30% of our bill. She uglily stated “thanks, but it goes to my bartender, so it doesn’t matter to me.” Overall, my dad and I were very unimpressed, and were sad to see a night life restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama, offer such poor customer service. We try to support our local businesses and dine out at these restaurants often. Unfortunately, this is definitely a place I will not be recommending to others and will not be...
Read moreDrinks were delicious, food was SALTY and greasy. So salty we could feel our ankles swelling as we sat there. The "roasted" brussels sprouts side was most definitely deep fried and inedibly salty. The smash burger was not hot, burgers were 1/8" thick, dry, flavorless and seemed slightly freezer-burned, but the entire thing was somehow SALTY, as in someone played a prank salty. The beet crostini was yummy, but each 5-6" one had only 3-4 nickel-sized slivers of beet, MAYBE a quarter of an entire preemie-baby beet, maybe, in the entire dish and a whisper of goat cheese...(PLENTY of honey though). French dip...bready and salty. Fried pickles were supposed to be panko-coated. They were absolutely not and were solidly mediocre. (We ate them, bc who can't eat fried pickles) Overall, this was just not great or even very good. None of the food was particularly hot. I totally understand the challenges the restaurant industry faces right now, but this was just a little on the gross side. Also, I'm by no means salt-phobic..this...
Read moreWent for lunch Sunday after hanging out at Avondale park. Cool spot, not a lot of parking, we parked at the park. The decor was really cool, it’s kind of small so I wonder how hard it is to get in on busier times. We got the kids tenders and my kids loved them. We got the Brussel sprouts and they were THE BEST IVE EVER HAD. We also got the beer cheese fries and they were really tasty with beer cheese and real bacon bits on top. I got the wedge salad and it was great, good tasting ranch. Husband got the French melt and he said it wasn’t the best he has ever had but the size was huge, we got a full and it was a foot long. He tried a beer and it was great (don’t remember the name unfortunately but probably a blonde or Siason) overall we tried a lot and were impressed with it all. We will be revisiting! They were under construction of an...
