TASTE and the CITY with NikTASTE and the CITY with Nik
If your looking for a Mexican eatery with real authentic mexican food, and not tex mex this is it huney!!! And their prices are very reasonable. Here in this pic is my fav menu item: Asada. (steak) tacos w/added shredded queso cheese! They also have really good salsa and queso cheese dip! It's not a fancy place but it is very clean and casual for a quick food stop, no they don't serve alcohol but you can come with your own beers to enjoy inside with your tacos while you dine!! And their foodtruck is bomb too! I'm always tasting different things & exposing my pallet to amazing food and drinks, so keep up with me on YouTube, Instagram & Facebook @tasteandthecitywithnik For food reviews and happenings in the City!!

Probably one of the best, if not the best, taco shop/mexican food restaurants in Birmingham. I do not say this lightly. We were just catered to our every need, on a random Monday night at 5:30pm. The service, the food, the quality of the meats! 10/10 would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for an easy and casual Mexican dinner. We were here about 3 months ago, and since then they have really stepped it up a notch. Their salsa is so smokey and delicious, along with their queso. They also have a truck on 4th Ave S that is exceptional. If you’re feeling authentic tacos, look no further than Taco Morro Loco in Avondale.

Called in the order and they got it ready fairly quickly. We ordered the special soup and a burrito with ground beef and queso on top (I had no clue what I wanted so they created this burrito for me with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, and queso on top ). The burrito had good flavor the rice was a little bland on its own but combined with the burrito it was ok. The beans were good and a bit runnier than I prefer but the flavor was good. My colleague enjoyed her soup; said it was filling, hot, and delicious. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

I’ve been a loyal customer of the restaurant for years - no exaggeration. It’s hands-down the best spot in town, and I go 2–3 times a week without fail. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistent. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a dinner with friends, I’ve never once left disappointed from the physical location. The service is usually kind, the atmosphere is welcoming, and they’ve truly built something special there.

That said… the taco truck is a completely different story. And unfortunately, I can’t keep quiet about it anymore.

The truck staff are consistently rude, short with customers, and just flat-out careless. I’ve watched them roll their eyes at people, speak in a condescending tone, and act like doing their job is some massive inconvenience. I’ve also experienced being overcharged, ignored at the window, and even skipped over in line while they served friends or regulars they actually like. It’s disrespectful — especially when I’m not some random walk-up customer, I’m someone who has supported this business for a long time.

What’s frustrating is that the quality of the food at the truck doesn’t match the restaurant either. Orders are wrong, portions are smaller, and it feels like they’re just trying to rush everyone through and make a quick buck — not provide the same care and quality that makes the restaurant great.

And the worst part? When you try to say something or give feedback, they get defensive or just shrug it off. No accountability. No professionalism. Just attitude.

It’s honestly disappointing. I love the main restaurant, I’ll probably still go — but I’m done with the taco truck. And I hate that I even have to say that, because I’ve always been a proud supporter of this place. But they’re losing loyal customers by letting the truck operate like this, and I hope someone higher up is paying attention.

Bottom line: Restaurant = 10/10. Taco truck...

We went here on a very cold January winter night.

Our first impression of the restaurant is that it was also cold. Like, REALLY COLD. There seemed to be this enormous draft from the front entrance. Anywho, out came the chips and salsa (I liked the salsa, my husband did not). We ordered drinks (including a sweet tea that I never received.) We looked over the menu and ordered some items. My husband had mixed fajitas, I ate tacos, and my son had a quesadilla. Overall I enjoyed my food with the exception of the grilled onion and jalepeƱo, which were both cool to the touch and seemed to be lacking on flavor. My son was satisfied with his quesadilla, but my husband was not too thrilled with his fajitas. A few menu items are particularly expensive (such as the cheese dip, at $5 for a small bowl), and unfortunately they didn't have any tres leche cake at the time šŸ˜ž There is no changing table in the restroom.

Anyway, our meal ended up being over 60 dollars. I believe it would have been much more enjoyable without two small children annoying us, but such is the life...

If I could give 0 star definitely I would give it!!! Worst restaurant I had ever been! Food has no taste at all price are ridiculous for the quality & taste they offer! The inside of the location smelled like drain literally! My wife ordered 4 al pastor tacos no flavor at all! I ordered a torta cubana & the meat that comes in it had a taste like chicken nuggets & freezer how ridiculous is that! They need to replace the oil where they fried all these meet!! Or buy fresh products for their costumers! Waiters has lack of experience & need to improve a little more other than that there is nothing good about this place. So disappointed for all others reviews that was our reason we decide to go to this place!!! I can’t believe this place has...
