This was one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. I walked in and was Immediately greeted by the owner, he dapped me up and said Roll Tide (Was wearing a Crimson Tide shirt). That is only the tip of the iceberg. I got the baked chicken, Mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy. When I tell you, this was probably the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. It was completely fall off the bone, ridiculously moist, and had flavor all the way to the bone. The mac & cheese was well seasoned, And just delicious. And the gravy for the mashed potatoes was obviously home made. Staff was very friendly and asked if we wanted to refill multiple times. This was round one. Me and my grandmother decided we wanted to order some takeout for when we get home. We asked the waitress if it was possible For them to have an order ready for us by 5:30, This time I ordered the baked chicken again, Mac & cheese, With the fried okra. Zero sliminess to the okra, And they gave me an extra piece of baked chicken. The baked chicken is huge, And they gave me one for completely free. I came inside with my to go and without hesitation, they refilled it for me. My grandmother thoroughly enjoyed her food, And the Peach cobbler was delicious Especially for peaches, not being in season right now (probably canned but very very good). The waitress helping me then said Roll Tide, And I left. Overall, this was probably one of if not the best restaurant experiences of my life. Thank you so much to the folks who run this. If you are considering eating here YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. God bless and thank...
Read moreOn 9/8 I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. I live for good soul food. Since living back to Bham I have been disappointed with the soul food restaurants around the city and I thought this would have been a different experience but I was sadly mistaken. I arrive about 2:20 and the line was kinda long. I thought this must be a good thing…I slowly make my way up and they are out of meat except turkey wings and they were being rude to the customers in front of me rushing their orders. I was told they were bringing more pork chops and baked chicken out so I was asked to have a seat. So they finally bring more meat and I’m sitting there still waiting to be acknowledged until I decided to get back in line which still took about 20 min to get my order and pay a whopping $45 for two plates…Now for the food…dressing tasted more like store bought stuffing, I couldn’t even eat it! Yams didn’t seem cooked throughly the baked chicken was bland the cabbage was decent and the macaroni was noodles with melted cheese not even oven baked and no flavor. For the price and the service and the taste of the food save your time and money. They need to hire people who can handle large crowds, have more food readily available and that is seasoned to perfection! This is not your down home cooking...
Read moreWell, my first time even going there, I ordered something from the breakfast menu when the food came to the table. The presentation was very nice, but as I begin to eat, I notice it was hair in my food. It really made my taste buds. Not too good. I did not even want to eat there. The server was very nice and friendly. I can honestly say I will go back just to see her, she had a great personalty great spirit ask me did I need anything? She was very polite about the whole situation when the manager came out, he told me that he was very sorry, but he also went into a deep conversation more about the situation notice that I had a haircut and feel like I put the hair in the food myself very funny but what he didn’t realize about me is I went to school for culinary arts. I also have a Degree so with that being said, I am very knowledge. Nobody back there in the kitchen didn’t have a hairnet on I noticed that as they was walking towards the front, I guess going to their break. That’s the one number rule when you’re dealing with food safety so before you come to me about that, you need to step it up but that’s my reviews your review is might be different from mine, but if you go, please make sure you get the waitress that have glasses on she have a great...
