Party of 6 - Ordered calamari and escargot as appetizers. I can't stand either but those who like that sort of thing said it was amazing although the calamari coating with peppers was different than expected. I had the chopped salad and previously ordered it in Texas where it came with two pieces of the best bacon you ever had, this only came with one which was disappointing but I suspect due to shrinkflation. My daughter ordered a filet butterflied and well done. It came out char-burned (and we realize they don't guarantee well done steaks not to be dry) but she said even burned it was delicious and possibly the best steak she ever had - she's 11 so take that with a grain of sea salt. I tasted her steak and it was not the best I ever had BUT it was definitely good and bumping up against very good despite not loving the burned edges.
The roasted vegetables side was very good, the potatoes augratin also very good, the butternut squash tasted ok but the consistency was like baby food which we would have preferred chunks but YMMV.
My wife ordered a bacon wrapped filet with crab meat on top and a sauce trio and said it was excellent. I tasted her bacon and although the bacon was charred beyond recognition it was very good. I think when you can burn a piece of meat and still have it come out worth eating, that is a sign of the quality of the ingredient to start with.
We had the nutty D'Angelo and creme brûlée for desert. The creme brûlée was excellent. The nutty D'Angelo was a complete disappointment. During our numerous experiences to Perry's in Texas, the dish was served with a generous scoop of deep frozen ice cream covered in a white chocolate shell. The waiter comes to the table with a portable stove, melts butter, adds brown sugar and cooks on high until it becomes carmel, at which point the waiter adds pecan pieces and alcohol which is flambé'd. The mixture is poured ripping hot over the ice cream and it cools where it touches and remaining warm on the edges. This was my favorite desert - period. There is (or was) even a video online where Perry's demonstrated how to make it step by step.
Unfortunately, this Perry's took what seemed to be either a Carmel or butterscotch pre-made sauce (likely out of a jar) threw some pecan pieces and alcohol on top and lit it on fire with a lighter for a few seconds and poured over the ice cream. The taste and texture left A LOT to be desired. It was cold when it went on the ice cream which didn't lend itself to help bring the ice cream up to eating temperature and the taste of the Carmel sauce was NOT good. The sauce didn't thicken as the original version does, the alcohol did not burn off leaving a bitter taste. The sauce had a buttery grain alcohol taste and didn't taste like Carmel.
Lastly, our server did a good job and two managers checked in with us. They were accommodating with minor reservation changes and were extra attentive to our birthday girl. Other Perry's locations waiters would use a crumb scrapper to remove crumbs while clearing the table between courses. This Perry's did not do that service. My wife loves that service so she would have held that against them if she were rating but she is not writing this rating and personally, I hate that service so... Consequently, I did not take off any points - you can't please everyone all the time.
Overall, I'd give the food about a 95%, the service about a 95% (one of our party wasn't ecstatic about the drink responsiveness) and I'd give the management staff a 100%, the hostesses 100% and the ambiance 100%, but the deserts only about a 60%. I would still come again but won't order the nutty D'Angelo unless they bring back the...
Read moreI made a 915pm reservation for 9 on this Friday Feb 14. While I understand Valrntimes day is a super high on demand day so I arrive and checked in at 830pm. We weren't seated until 950pm and then it took our waiter until 1010 to just come say hello. He then returned 20 minutes later just to bring water but no bread or anything else. At this time he proceeded to take our orders but made it clear to us that the kitchen closes soon and we had to hurry. Unfortunately and very rudely he snatched the menu out of the hand from someone in my party because she was taking too long to decide what she wanted to order per his demeanor. A complaint was made to the manager I think her name was Lorie white female young with a splinter on her finger. She came to the table to handle the complaint reassured us she would take care if it and changed our waiter to which we had to wait another 20 minutes or so for him to arrive and then he had to take our orders all over again. During Lorie interactions with us she was advised of two seafood allergies at our table she wrote it down and ensured us she would make sure the kitchen and staff knew of these allergies and she left. 15 minutes later one of the seafood allergy patrons received his salad with seafood on top. We advised our now new waiter and he took it away ordering a new salad. Another 15 or 20 minutes go by and they return to him again with yet another salad with seafood contents. We sent this salad back again and then just cancelled the salad all together. By now we have watched numerous parties sit down well after us eat drink mingle and leave the restaurant. I requested to see the Manager Lorie again via our new waiter but she never showed after another 20 minutes I approached the host at the front door and asked her again for Lorie and I saw her doing her due diligence to locate Lorir but to no avail she never came back to our table. After being in this restaurant for over 3 plus hours now we are the last people left in the entire establishment. The entire time we were being told the bread is in the oven and on the way and didn't arrive until midnight when our food finally arrived. Food arrives and all the food was cold and extremely salty. We again demanded a manager and a totally different manager showed up and handle our complaint but had to wait an additional 20 minutes while she called the general manager to comp all 9 entries that were sent back to the kitchen and not eaten. This was a complete disaster we spent 4 hours in this establishment and only...
Read moreMyself and a group of three friends visited this establishment on the evening of Wednesday, July 2nd. The experience began on a positive note our server was warm, friendly, and informative, taking the time to share drink specials and menu recommendations. We ordered drinks, which were prepared perfectly, followed by appetizers and entrées. Unfortunately, when our meals arrived, they were cold. We politely asked our server to send them back. Shortly after, the manager, Alyssa Miller, approached our table. She was incredibly kind and professional, informing us she had been made aware of the issue and would have the entire order remade fresh. We greatly appreciated her proactive and respectful approach. While waiting, we ordered another round of drinks. This is when the evening took an unexpected and disappointing turn. A bartender/server named Matt brought out a drink for one of my friends (part of a flight), and instead of delivering it courteously, he dropped it on the table and aggressively shoved it toward her without saying a word, then walked away with a visible attitude. His behavior was rude and uncalled for. Shocked and uncomfortable, we requested to speak with the manager again. We explained what had happened, asked her to cancel the food order, and requested the check, as we no longer felt comfortable staying. We did not want to continue supporting a business where a staff member could treat customers with such blatant disrespect and hostility. What made this even more disappointing was that Matt stood behind the bar, smirking as we gathered our things and walked out. Despite this, Manager Alyssa remained professional and sincerely apologetic. We appreciated her efforts she even comped our meal, although we insisted on paying because that was never our expectation. While the manager and our original server both provided excellent service, the conduct of one employee left such a negative impression that we will not be returning. In today’s economy, where every dollar counts and customers have countless options for where to dine, consistent, respectful customer service from every staff member should be the standard not the exception. Customer service matters, especially when people choose to spend their hard-earned money. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we can no longer support this establishment.
