Quite honestly, the food and drinks here are pretty good and the food and drink staff are friendly and attentive. What on earth, you might ask, could possibly merit a 1 star review, given the above facts? Well, first, their description of the joint as "unpretentious" is disingenuous. They try pretty hard at being unpretentious-in a snooty, hipster way-but it's like that trust-fund, old-money rich friend we've all had at one point or another: the harder he tries to appear blue-collar and unpretentious, the more he just seems like a rich schmuck patronizing everyone with his everyman schtick. Then, there's the security staff: picture every beefy-but-insecure local cop or MP on a powertrip you've ever encountered and you're still not even close to how needlessly rude and mindless these Barney Fife's on steroids really are. An example: my buddy and I stopped off one night to have a bite and a few beers at the bar and were halfway through our meals when one of these automatons came along and informed us that he was supposed to clear the bar stools out by 9 for the live show later. We politely informed him that we were still working on our food but we would clear out as soon as we were finished so he could perform his task. Now, never mind that the live show was at least an hour away and there was barely a soul in the interior bar area at the moment, this mindless drone came back at the appointed time and promptly became ridiculously over-the-top confrontational and even attempted to pull the bar stool out from under me. I've worked security before and even taught police officers so I understand the difficulty of keeping things orderly when dealing with drunk, disorderly and overly excited patrons but these two middle-aged dads were none of these things. Needless to say, having experienced how well-behaved, paying customers were treated like mayhem-causing ruffians, we've declined to...
Read moreDO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD!!! I opened up a tab, got 2 drinks, and then tried to close my tab only to be told my card is nowhere to be found and that they don't have it. One of the bartenders either lost or stole it. I'm told there's a possibility it could have been given to a different customer and "usually when this happens they bring it back" which is an absurd, careless, and irresponsible response to get from someone trusted with many credit cards at one time. To add to this, another person from my group was also told they had their card lost when he went to buy his first drink and didn't even open a tab, just paid for the one drink. The guy gave him the receipt back but no card saying he must have lost it himself and then the bartender conveniently found the card in his pants pocket when he was pressed about it more. And you guessed it, same bartender that lost mine. Do not trust the bartenders, they seem sketchy. I hate to be accusatory and generally give people the benefit of the doubt but at some point its hard to attribute things to stupidity rather than...
Read morecouple of my friends have been roofied at this bar. New staff is rude and thinks they are above authority, my friends came from out of town to visit so we decided to go with a safe group for karaoke night, we made it into the bar no problem but once we went to get a drink, her 2nd drink might i add they asked for her ID and told her it was fake she then without being asked recited her address, birthday, and zip and the female dark haired new bartender gave her an ugly glare then asked her for her drivers license number which at that point i stepped in and asked her if she knew her own driver license number by heart and she responded by telling me she could chose who she does and doesn’t serve. Really wanted to give this place another shot but that ruined the experience, get some better trained girls to professionally check IDs instead of people who take authority to their head lord knows we have enough of that in...
