Pre-COVID 19, I came to this food "Island Food Heaven every Sunday afternoon. In no time, I was addicted. The food, flavors were magnificent; and the quantity was plentiful. I appreciate how the ladies at the front counter & cash register patiently & kindly explain the food items that I am not familiar with. I spent no less than $60.00 each visit Missed it for the past 29 months.😢 It's 8/18/22 and I returned today, for the first time. I spent $88.00. Today, I asked for my brown stew fish to have spicy sauce added on top after they had packaged it. The young lady told the tall guy who cooks in the back. He commented, Why didn't I say that before?" Ispoke and said, I am sorry." The young assured me it was okay. It was really something that he would complain about putting a couple tablespoons--about 37 cents worth-- of pepper sauce, when I was paying grocery money. One final thing is that the oxtail pieces are now cutup small to give you less meat and about 1/3 of the meat amount is bone. The cabbage was no more that 1&1/2 tablespoons when they used to fill the styrofoam pocket to the top. I know that EVERY food business (grocery stores/restaurants/Caribbean Superior) are trying to ease their COVID-time costs/losses while cutting back on what they give you; but AT THE SAME PRICING that they used to--properly--give you more food quantity and you did not feel cheated. However, many of these places are making a mistake by "milking" the customer's wallet. If Caribbean Superior didn't have business insurance to cover the time and money lost when COVID was highest, then a steady and loyal customer base should have made them show customer appreciation and keep the food quantity he same as before. Realize that customers were also hurt when they became unemployed or "under" employed. Also, COVID-19 and all the variations have not gone away. The infection numbers keep rising; it's just the news coverage has moved on to other things. Therefore, the ones cooking the food, and the ladies at the counter should ALL be wearing masks and gloves. You do not know if someone has been around others who are incubating, or actively have--COVID/variants. The lady at the cash register should only handle the money and none of the food orders when they come up ready--which I think it was being done that way. On that point, I hope that my Caribbean food does not cause me (or anyone) to experience any of the pandemic...
Read moreOkay first I apologize that I don’t have any pictures of my food because I crushed!!! It was so good I forgot all about a picture 🤗 I went during lunch hour the line was at the door so you know the food is awesome. They have $8 lunch specials from 11am-3pm Stew Chicken, Curry Chicken and Jerk Chicken that of course comes with the rice and peas with vegetables (cabbage). They also have a breakfast menu. I may have to try one morning. But anyway I got stew chicken and I added a beef patty and chicken patty with coco bread for few extra dollars. They give you good amount of portions, you will be satisfied and full. I saw they also do spinach patties. They have fish that looks so delicious and many other options too. Omgness I’m going back for the Curry Chicken lunch special and adding that spinach patty. You can see right into the kitchen as they cooked which I like and they all are so friendly😊 The restaurant is really small maybe 3 or 4 small tables but didn’t seem to be a problem for anyone or me....
Read moreI literally just ordered from this place. I had immediate regret once I read the comment from one of my Jamaicans. I'm very disappointed and need y'all to take the authentic out your name. I need a full refund. The best thing is the bum and cheese and thats sad. Y'all charge for this little slice of cheese which could've been included in the bun and cheese. I'm a very disappointed Jamaican. This food is lacking seasoning and the rice and peas are bland and I need a full refund. My husband was not pleased with the jerk chicken. Ppl need to learn what is good food bc all these five stars you a blood clot lie. Now I have this food I have to force myself to eat. See I should've just got up and cooked dinner. Now I'm being punished for spending money and wasting it. I'm not lying to you I'm a Jamaican and this is not it....
