Great Steak — Restaurant in Blaine

I’ve been going to the Great Steak in the Mall of America for MANY years. I was soooo excited when I saw one was opening near home! I hope this place is just having a really tough start since they just recently opened but I was severely disappointed. First I waited 15 minutes to place my order in the drive thru. And once I got up to the window finally I was asked to enter my pin. I’ve never ever been asked to enter my cards pin in the drive thru and even when I am asked to enter pin there’s an option to skip it. But they insisted I need a pin but I couldn’t even enter it because the card reader was connected to their inside counter and couldn’t reach my car. So then I had to go inside, wait 10 minutes in line, replace my order, and pay there. The kicker isn’t even the service though because I get new places have troubles when starting out but the food is NOTHING like actual Great Steak’s. The sandwich’s were like the size of hot dogs or kid sandwiches. I paid almost $40 for two sandwiches with barely any meat inside, the locations that have always been at the mall have always made their sandwiches full of meat. This was a joke! I hope they get better because I won’t be going back...

Ordered Lunch and it was cancelled 15 minutes before it was supposed to show up. No apology and I am a nursing mother WHO NEEDS LUNCH! What a huge let down. They just lost my business.

Edit: I was called after making a review but my review still stays the same because of the inability to take responsibility for the faulty ordering system. The ordering system allows you to order for 10am which is what I picked (why have that selectable if you can't deliver at that time? not a 1st time customers fault you can't get that fixed). I would've been fine with an 11am delivery if I had been called before cancelling (no phone call was received until a review was left). The person who called from Great steak did not take responsibility for anything and made me feel like it was my fault their ordering system is set up wrong. How dare I don't know they don't deliver at 10am and a potato needs 55 min to cook? If that's the case have the ordering system not allow delivery until 11am! Don't call customers if you are just going to say nothing is your fault and sorry you trusted our ordering system? Guess the customer is NOT...

You can't be pretentious when you're eating cheesesteaks and chili cheese fries. I was ready for debauchery.

The original philly (regular size) was really hot and fresh, which I appreciate. You can add extras to your sandwich if you desire, but I did not. Overall, it is about what you would expect. It would fulfill your cheesesteak craving, but probably not exceed it. However, maybe that is all you are looking for. This is not a bad choice. And maybe one of the sandwiches I didn't try is where I'd really be blown away. I'll be back to find out.

I was very excited for their chili cheese fries, and totally expected them to be the right kind of "unladylike". While they were good, I was disappointed with the fries. They seemed a little overdone, you know, like when they are kind of tough or hard to bite and the potato-y goodness inside is kind of dried up? Like if you put them in the microwave or oven a little too long? Yeah, like that. They were edible, and the toppings were great. Luckily this is an easy mistake to remedy. Maybe it was just an off-night.
