Cute restaurant, food was good but very expensive considering it's a Mexican restaurant. We had a large party but tried to make it easy on them by doing a simple order and it was 2 PM, basically an empty restaurant. The server was sweet but when she got all our orders wrong, she didn't seem to care. She asked if we wanted them to remake them but implied that would really be a pain for her. I mean, I do want my order to be correct. It's customary to remind a guest of any upcharge (extra $1 for this or that) which she didn't do, so we were shocked at the large bill and 20% auto-grat. Considering she didn't refill our waters or correct our orders, I didn't think she deserved that. As we were settling up, I asked a bartender to refill our waters (handed her my cup as I was very thirsty and annoyed that my server couldn't be found in the empty restaurant), and the bartender slammed my cup down, fake smiled and said "your server will be right with you." This was the last straw for me so I went to the manager and told her what happened. The first thing the manager said was that she knew our server was hoping to go home. OK... Then she said she (the manager) had just arrived. OK... Then she said the auto-grat is customary for a large party. Again, ok, but my issue is that the service was poor and didn't warrant this tip. I told her about the rude bartender and the manager just said, "oh, no, that's not ok." That was it. No comp, no corrected tip. I'm sorry it was such a bad experience as we did enjoy the food. Our server was actually fine- I understand wanting to go home and it wasn't that bad until the bartender. Even with the mess-ups we would have tipped 18%. I feel frustrated that she treated us like she didn't trust us to compensate her (not pointing out the upcharges), and then didn't give us service worthy of what she was charging us. Even that is understandable. The manager should have made it right but she...
Read moreWhen this place first opened it was amazing! I literally ate both lunch and dinner the first day I went. The salads were always fresh and delicious. The chips and salsa, same. The chicken rings tacos... heaven. However, we had a couple of issues with servers. They wouldn’t return to the table after taking the order. No drinks refills, no checking to see how it was or if you needed anything. And a couple times the food was off. The last time we ate there was absolutely the worst. We got steak and chicken tacos. The steak wasn’t steak. It looked like some sort of gray mystery meat. I refused to eat it and sent it back for another chicken taco. Which came out without all of the toppings. Which the chef argued about and told the server I was blind and he knew what he was doing. The server then brought me a side of the topping I was missing AND CHARGED ME FOR IT! The queso on the burrito we ordered for a child was hardened. The kid wouldn’t even eat half of it, it was so bad. We expressed how unhappy we were with all the things that were wrong, a manager never came over to speak with us. Our bill was $68 for 2 adults and 1 child. No alcohol. I don’t mind paying for god food but it needs to be good food. It saddens me because this place could be so amazing. It was amazing in beginning. It went from my absolute favorite place to eat in town to we won’t go back.
5/29/21 Update: we were invited back and this time was much much better. Our server was a little slow but we were in the patio and it was AP Patricia night. (Which we didn’t know about but sounds pretty cool) So I’m hoping the bad experience we had was a fluke and we will be going back. The tacos...
Read moreVery cute place in the middle of downtown blairsville. We came in after lunch time, around 2:30pm. BOGO taco Monday, we were told.
We ordered the corn dip as an appetizer, which was hot and a 10/10. Highly recommend and made us super excited to order food since that was so good.
We ordered 4 tacos each since it was BOGO. That’s where the disappointment started. The birra taco was super cold and dry- I couldn’t even finish my first bite. The grouper didn’t even have any grouper, it was this little sliver slapped in the middle of breading that was super salty. The shrimp taco was cold and the carne asada was super cold and tough. We also order rice and beans and a side of fries which was cold. We aren’t ones to complain or return food because we know small business lose money that way, so we just let it be.
Until we got our bill. Any party over 6 is automatic 20% gratuity and not based on your final total, it’s based on your total before the BOGO. So it ended up being an almost $20 tip on a $43 meal. I’m a great tipper, but half of then cost of my actual meal is ridiculous. I’ll tip 20% on the before total if I used a coupon, but not if the place where I’m eating is running a special.
It gets better, the moment we all paid with our 20% auto gratuity. The servers whole demeanor changed, when she realized we weren’t leaving additional tip on top of the 20% she already got from our pre discount totals. At one point a table topper with the information fell on the floor and she picked it Up and slammed it on the table and then walked away. We definitely will not...
