After a long night of DoorDashing around Chicago and heading back home to Gary with my sister, we decided to stop for some food. I found Gyros Express on 1814 Chicago Rd through Google Maps, and even though it was dark out and not much was going on in the area, the place felt solid. It was clean, had music playing in the background, and was still open—which was a major plus since they stay open until 2AM. The prices really surprised me in a good way. Compared to other gyro spots where a gyro plate can run you over $15, here it was only around $10 + tax. I ended up getting the gyro plate with fries, and it only cost around $16 total. Honestly, I probably would’ve been better off skipping the fries since they weren’t seasoned or anything, but they worked fine when eaten with the gyro and sauce. The food itself was really good, fresh veggies, tasty and well-cooked meat, and warm soft pita bread. Everything hit the spot after a long shift. If I’m ever back in Chicago late at night, I’m definitely coming back here. This spot might just be...
Read moreOk I'm back and recently ordered from here. I can tell they are putting fourth a much better effort because the food was delicious. Keep up the good work and I will bring the score back to perfect 5 starts.
Previous review: I have to lower y'all score from a 5 star to a 2 star. I hate doing this, but the quality of the food y'all serve has drastically plummeted. Ever since the new crew was hired about a year ago, I immediately noticed a difference. The meat in the tacos used to be sliced, then cooked tender and juicy. Now they shred the meat and it's all dry. Plus I can tell the now use cheaper low quality cuts. Very sad because I used to order from here at least once a week. I went last night for the first time in about a year and it hasn't improved, so I revised my review.
Original review: Love coming here to eat. Food is A1. I do suggests calling your order in, because they will get super busy. Also it would be nice if they got the parking lot fixed up. Other than that they...
Read moreI went in here Saturday and I had called my order in. They told me ten minutes. I got there in 15 minutes. Food still wasn’t ready then I went in and waited. I was there an additional forty five minutes and I watched two sheriffs come in and order food and get theirs in five minutes as well as two Hispanic people and also two people who came in the restaurant after me. So I asked the young man how much longer and he said five minutes. So now another 15 minutes past and still no food. When I asked the young man how much longer one of the girls back there got to talking crazy saying I have to wait like every mf body else so we were arguing when she shouldnhabe stayed in her place as the cook and allowe me to talk to the young man I ordered my food with. Bad...
