Edit: I've tried to give this thrift store a chance, but my recent visit was overwhelmingly negative. They had the audacity to take items away from me at checkout so they could be repriced, claiming that it was an error that they were put out at all. They offered me the items at the new prices, but it was a joke, going from the original $20 for five games to the new price of $20 or more per game. If I have to worry about a roadblock like this at checkout every time I visit, then I'm just going to write them off. It's an awful feeling to have a good deal teased and then taken away so quickly. They should honor their pricing errors, or work harder to prevent these errors from happening to begin with.
I've been visiting this thrift store for five years now, and sadly have had to witness it slowly decline into what it is now. Good deals are now nowhere to be found here, and they'll try very hard to get the top dollar out of very damaged goods. Alongside this, employees are very rude to customers on a regular basis.
I enjoy collecting video games and this used to be a great place to visit for good deals on used games. Unfortunately now they price their games going off of eBay. The eBay listing might warrant that price, but not the beat up case, and scratched up disc that Village Discount offers at the same rate. On top of the lack of a return policy, buying from here just isn't worth it anymore.
I've been willing to put up with the rudeness of the managers and employees up until now, but I just can't justify spending my money here anymore with the way things...
Read moreDuring the prior summer of 2022 the clothing selection at this Village discount Thrift Store has been very sketchy and not in very very good quality. Also their price were very much over the TOP and Not very fair for donated goods being Resold. YES, we-JQpuclic get it. It's also surpose to be for the reason of donating to a charitable cause. But they-thrift stores are too d@@m high on their prices. If by chance you were lucky enough to find something to your taste or liking the thrift store pricing system could stretch your pocket way out of line. I just feel that Village Dis.. Store n all those other Thrift Stores are too high and be ashame of themselves. Come on now the people who are patriotizing these Thrift stores are coming to these stores because of the fact that the regular clothing stores in most case are outta their budget for certain things. The other thing concerning all thrift stores; they are NOT offering regular discount days as in the past nor the Seniors Citizen recognization days as in the past before the Pandemic. Seniors are on a tight budget but they are a study customer stream. However today I was out and about shopping at the thrift store for sweater material to adapt to another dress I was repairing. I also found another green sweater for next summer wear. The other thing i was able to take advantage of was to locate 3 items today for one $dollar using the color code for all my 3 being under $4.70 for their Sunday...
Read moreThis store has a decent selection of secondhand things, including but not limited to clothes, electronics, housewares, and more. Everyday there's three/four colours with 25/50% off. They also offer high end/brand name items at higher prices. They have cashiers and assistants that speak Spanish, making the store bilingual which helps expand their customer base.
When it comes to high end items are never 25~50% off unless there's a storewide sale which is usually no more than 6 days out of the month. Though to compensate, they offer an early bird special where they take off a small percentage (around 5%)based on their price.
One of the reasons for a lowered score is that there's a constant lack of staff. You may be stuck waiting 5-20 minutes to look at a white tag item just to quickly refuse it and end up waiting longer to check out another one. Another resulting problem is there's commonly only 1 cashier unless someone makes a fuss or demand gets peaked.
Last big reason is that prices for high end items can wildly vary to the point where you could get some things new elsewhere for the same price. A personal example was that there was a Xbox original for $80 that came with nothing at all. But a few days after, there was two more Xbox originals for $40 each, both including controllers, a game in their tray, and OEM A/V+A/C cables.
All in all, you'll find something nice but you'll most likely want to hold out for a good sale day or a day it...
